I would need to see it in different contexts, but my initial reaction is:

- It looks good on that exterior shot when seen up close
- Less sure from a distance, hard to tell, but maybe gets a bit lost?
- Struggling to visualise how it would look elsewhere, especially on steering wheel

Reminds me of when Apple ditched the skeuomorphic app icons in iOS7. Hated the new look at the time, got to like it later. Now it's normal...

Maybe it's got to the point now where they need to take the chrome out of the badge in order to make up for the extra they put into the grilles... to avert a global chrome crisis or something...?

Joking aside, I kind of like the graphic design of the new roundel...

Gross. Looks like a cake decoration bought from Wilkinsons.

If, as it looks, it's several separate components (roundel, circle, letters) it's going to be a magnet for scrotes to pick at.

That's a good point on scrotes....

I can't think of another big German manufacturer that's changed there main logo like this?
Or even a European manufacturer? Seems to be throwing part of their heritage away..

Don't like the transparent one.

I see already on the website theres the translate one and a black one.

Everyone remember the 'black brand' front page news a while back? I wonder is it will be one badge for 5 and up etc?

It's alright. Can't say I'm too fussed either way. The logo was always fairly timeless so not sure I see the point. However, the Ford one is a different story... that's needed a redesign since about the 1960s.

It's not made it onto other recent model releases yet, maybe it's just to match the ultra modern electric cars only?

You're right, hadn't noticed that. Doesn't bother me too much, although looks a little childlike and less sophisticated. Won't make a difference on car choice though.

OK, as I suspected, it looks like it is the logo that will (from now) be used for BMW brand communication...

Bit of a strange article, it has changed every twenty years or so, so due a refresh I guess. Every other time it's been on the cars, but this time for communication only?!?

Yet it's plain to see it's on the I4 concept. Does the article mean that it won't be on the production version?

Not sure this article clears it up 100%.

I think a sort of "safe for now" interpretation of the article might be that the new logo is introduced now for communication purposes and that they are staying tight lipped about the future, and any possible change/expansion of the use...

I agree for current models, but doesn't address the I4 concept.

And a different logo all over website and communications to the one on your products seems an odd long term strategy.

Thanks for sharing!

I wouldn't want it in my F30, but it might look great on the new models.

It looks dated to me. It's what Microsoft did with their Office logos about 10 years ago. They've subsequently gone back to more detailed designs.
