IOS13 Carplay

I know it's been done to death. But I've just upgraded my IPhone (couldn't help myself), to iOS 13, mainly for Carplay. New Carplay home screen is a nice touch and it feels a very snappy.

What version of iDrive is this? With Carplay on my 2018 X5 (ID6) I can't get this full screen display - it's almost like having split-screen active!

It's ID6. I paid £25 (off eBay), to get full screen. I also switched CarPlay to right hand drive. The home button etc were previously on the left.

Followed same process as OP - with iOS 13 you definitely need to enable fullscreen for the full benefit.

Sigh, this thread and my G05 X5 is why I'm grabbing a 2018 headunit and touchscreen for my already quite modded '14 F30 because I'm an iOS engineer by day and one more mod couldn't hurt right?

I like it and my car came with 12 months subscription but not sure I would pay for CarPlay in the future.

Paid £40 for lifetime CarPlay off eBay. £300 from BMW is a joke, for what is standard on my mother's Seat Ateca.

There must be a way...apparently there's an option you can toggle using e-sys for fullscreen CarPlay, but it has no effect as if it's been disabled elsewhere by BMW. End of the day for 25 quid it saved me faffing about!

The full screen requires an FSC code, hence why just coding it doesn't work.

Thought I would ask on this thread as it's the most recent active one on CarPlay...

I bought a CarPlay FSC code off Wibbles last year, but today my car's had a full software update and CarPlay has been wiped. I understand from babybmw that Wibbles is uncontactable at the moment, so my question for you knowledgeable people is:

- Can I just reload the previous .bin file that Wibbles sent me? Or am I going to screw something up as the idrive has been updated?

Second question is:

- Can I get fullscreen on ID5, either via an add-on or full reactivation (if the above won't work)?

Balls. Just realised I have bigger problems. The nav is now not working at all, it refuses to show the map etc. Is this because I had CarPlay coded? I seem to recall another member reporting this.

Apple have just released a 500mb update 13.1 only a few days after 13 came out.

Can't help you mate, but would have thought if you've had a full software update anything you'd done previously would be wiped, so can't see how that should affect the maps

As for CarPlay, again I would assume the bin file would work as it's just your VIN (as opposed to software version) that the guys use to generate the code.

Pretty sure if you contact one of many eBay sellers you'll be able to get CarPlay activation and fullscreen bundled, but annoying having to pay again for something you had.
