Brake Mileage Counter Reset

Is there any other way to reset the brake counter other than the typical way using the dashboard. I changed my rear brakes, but I did not change the wear sensor, as it was undamaged. When I try to do the reset it tells me "reset unsuccessful" and the counter has about 2000 miles left on it. Not sure if it needs to hit zero first? Or if it wont reset due to the old sensor?

F3x sensors have 2 wires to wear through: the first one is used to establish an estimate on how many miles the pad will last (set thickness for given miles since zeroing). The 2nd wire is the "replace now" wire that previous models had.

You need to have both wires intact to reset.

Yes, the most common cause of no reset is that one of the sensors has been triggered.

There's actually another way. The sensor gets tripped when continuity has been severed. You can restore the circuit by using a paper clip and sticking each end on the sensor plug or doing what this guy did:

Of course it's not "best practice" but neither is going over the speed limit which we all do.
