It’s an absolute pain in the arse, especially if you want to unlock the phone whilst it’s in a car cradle, sitting on a desk or sofa arm etc., any situation where you’re not looking straight on at the phone basically, or if you’re wearing sunglasses.

And you can’t even turn off the phone lock like you could on old iphones.

Pre ordered a pro in 256 guise through the upgrade program. Seems like the best way to get the latest tech every year. Make 11 payments then simply hand it back and take away the new one, starting a new deal.
I'll be handing back a xs.. Doesn't look like much of an update to be honest but meh, it's new and shiny...

Camera features are defo impressive. I've currently got an iPhone X and probably won't upgrade this year. I typically keep the phone for 3 years then upgrade and buy a used one. So when the iPhone 12 comes out, I'll get an iPhone 11 haha, I can't justify £1000 on a new iPhone. I'll wait until the price of them drops on the used market and then buy a sim only contract. I paid £350 for my iPhone X about 5 months ago and am paying £13pm for my sim only contract which has 200 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited data. Costs considerably less than buying as a bundle from the carriers.

I’ve just read that the iPhone 11’s have a multi angle face id sensor which can detect your face at angles other than straight on! And it’s also apparently 30% faster than previous models.

If this is true, and it makes a significant difference, I might just be tempted to order one!

I'm still on the XS Max. My daughter's 7+ was getting on in age and I just replaced the battery while they still had that $29 deal going. We all hate face id. My other phone is a OnePlus 6T and they've got the fingerprint sensor thing figured out. Once Apple gets that out, I'll upgrade my daughter's phone and mine. I had the 7+ and she had the 6S. I had to switch to a new iPhone when I switched to FirstNet so she got my 7+. The 6S is still going strong and is just my in car emergency phone.

Mine works with sunglasses fine. And it’s possible to set no automatic lock.

You can also turn off the feature where your eyes have to be looking at the screen for unlock.

I bought a desk stand so the phone is upright on the desk and car kit I only have to slightly move my head so it’s not too bad.

The new ones have the sensors that are more wide angle as mentioned, I have this on my iPad Pro and it does work at much better angles.

Yeah I know all that, it's still a pain in the bum compared to just pressing the home button.

Good to know, I guess your iPad has the same face id sensor as the iPhone 11/pro, in which case I think I will definitely order one as they're the same price per month, and I might even make a bit from my XS after paying the early upgrade fee.

I'm now considering the 11 Pro Max for the extra screen size, but unsure if I can live with the pocket bulge!

Has anyone else moved from a X or Xs to a Max model, and how have you gotten on with it?

Yeah went from a normal 8 to an Xs Max takes a little getting use to but worth it in my opinion.

I haven't ever used or heard the word phablet for a while but thought this was a good time. I'm worried going from a Iphone 6 to an 11 pro - longer, wider, thicker, heavier. I remember the time Apple loved shouting about how they've made something slimmer and/or lighter. Those days disappeared without a mention. These things need to go on a diet.

Went from a 6 to a 7 plus. Still wish I had the bigger phone.

No issues here man. Always preferred the larger plus model and was a little disappointed with the iPhone X as the screen ratio moved to a much wider 20:9 from 16:9 which was perfect on iPhone plus for movies. Explained here. https://www.macobserver.com/news/pro...-aspect-ratio/

I moved straight away to the max Xs and love it - it’s defo a bit of weight to it but it means I don’t have need for a mini iPad etc. It’s like the plus but with all screen. Never had to much issue with fitting in pockets etc.

Carphone warehouse are great to walk in for a trade in. Think it’s 660 for old phone. Never again for fleebay within mins the scammers are onto you.

Just upgraded to watch OS 6 on my gen 4 apple watch... have to say love the new Meridian watch face.

Not sure i like how the have changed all the watch faces so that the complications go monotone when you select a colour other than white or black though..

Also glad there is a calc app now... will test the noise monitoring when i go to a site tomorow pm!

Just getting a new OS on my watch and phone i am happy! - its like they are new toys again 🤣

Ha! Mine tells me to update my Iphone (6) software first. When i try to do that it's up to date (12.4.1). Presume OS 6 needs IOS 13 (which the Iphone 6 isn't getting according to its omission from the list of phones is supports)
