Long time ago about 10 years and not on a BMW. They suck. I don't know if they change the formula.

carbotech AX8...not sure if they make it for your car. if they do, you will love it!! tricky to bed-in though.

DS Ferrodo 2500 is another great pad that has good bite, low dust but not sure if its ceramic.

Akebono also a good higher quality street pad.

All three brands of these pads are easy on rotors.

Stay away from Power Stop (not to be confused with StopTech), they're a junk brand and several forum members have reported dangerous level braking performance (I did a lot of research when I changed pads).

Akebono or EBC Redstuff pads are perfect higher performance ceramic street pads. I've run both on several vehicle, current running redstuff pads on my 340i, and they're much lower dust than OEM. I've locked them up a few times already and they stop really well. Both Akebono and Redstuff will have less of an intitial bite than OEM and feel more progressive. I like this, but others don't. Can't go wrong with either option IMO. They'll have slightly different characteristics than carbon pads, but that's to be expect. Just my .02.

I have Akebono Euro Ceramics of some type, and like them lots. I find the stock pads (Jurid, Pagid...) to be overly sensitive on initial bite.
