It looks like its flattened off. Looking at my quote history (aka spam from comparison sites), it looks like the main spike was between Apr and July 2023.

My 2015 430d

8th Aug 2022: £302
17th July 2023: £530
8th Aug 2023: £599
Now: £590

Mrs' 2020 X4 20d

21st Apr 2023: £530
26 Jul 2023: £732
Now: £812

I think Martin Lewis said at the end of 2022 that if you could get a policy to see you through 2023, the market would flatten, so that makes sense.

I think the market is a bit broken at the moment. However extreme the experiences being reported here they are nothing to what young drivers face. The average premium for 17-24 year olds is close to £3000. The average! If that really was a true reflection of risk I presume the minute I spot a driver of less than 24 I should slam on the brakes, leave the car and run. Its got to be crazy hasn't it? The insurance industry is pricing in close to £3000 of loss for each and every sub 24 driver in a year.

Just renewed with BMW flex. 2016 330d. 50 year old. Max NCD. Low crime Suffolk Post code. 22K miles a year declared. No mods (apart from xHP).

Was with LV=.

Last year - £717.

This year - £1260 inc NCD protection and legal. £500 XS. £100 screen XS. +£200 extra to specify a BMW approved bodyshop.

BMW Flex - £1248 inc NCD protection and legal. £250 XS. £75 screen excess. BMW approved bodyshops by default.

Cheapest on Go Compare was £900 with a no name insurer and not much cover. Not up for that.

Adding my missus this year pruned the premium considerably. Last year it made no difference. Odd.

Aviva renewal for the 440 and VW Caddy went up less than £30.
The Good Lady's Santa Fe went up 50%, with Aviva Zero. Added her to my 2 cars to bring it down to the same as last year.....last year the Zero was a lot cheaper for her than on mine.

My renewal came through and it’s only gone up by £98. Although doing quotes online, it’s £200 cheaper than anywhere else. Fingers crossed my wife will get me a staff discount next year haha.
