It appears that in Germany (and other EU country) the 4 GC will be same price as 4 coupe and a little bit cheaper then the 3 GT...

This is where I disagree. The 6-Series GC looks like a 6-Series Coupe with 4 doors indeed. Very succesful. This doesn't even look like a sedan, more like a hatchback/liftback, almost like a 3-Series GT. Very different to what a Gran Coupe is supposed to be in my opinion. And as I've been saying all along, a 3rd window is totally un-BMW.

As it was mentioned earlier, this should have been the 3-Series GT and a smaller version of the 6-Series GC (strictly sedan - not hatchback nonesense) should have been the 4-Series GC instead.

I wonder if there is any noticeable difference in interior noise levels between a 3 series, with a separate trunk compartment, and a 4 series GC with the trunk storage area open to the main cabin? The 3 series GT has a combined interior space as well doesn't it? Has anyone ever compared the interior noise of the 3 vs the 3 GT to see if it is perceptible?

SUVs are typically have more interior noise but I don't know how much of that is a factor of one cabin area and how much has to do with suspension, chassis etc vs the joined interior spaces.

In my mind I am having a hard time figuring out why it is necessary to have a 3 series 4-door, a 3-series GT and a 4 series 4-door Grand Coupe, but if BMWs marketing research says there is a market for it and folks want to spend money on it why should we judge?

I like the value prop of the 4GC. Sleeker roofline, body, everything; I get that. But because it resembles the 3 series too much, I don't get it yet. Maybe when the 4 vs 3 brand has more individual distinction, like 5 vs 6 (5 is a looks great, 6 is just beautiful) then I can see the purpose of 4GC. But for now, if I want a 4-door, a 3 MSport should do, and 4 MSport for 2-door.
And no, a 3GT has a different position and does not even fill in the purpose of a 4GC. The rear hatch is the only resemblance, absolutely nothing else.

Wow, I was wondering what the point of this car was, but IMO it looks a lot better than the 3 series. I like the coupe-like body shape much better. So, now what's the point of the 3 series?

And so it begins. FINALLY, people are getting the f36 design and are coming around and warming up to the new design language. f30 now looks ... weird and too sedan-y.


BUT ... so far, the f30 may be the only option for a four door MT in the US. If it comes down to an auto Gran Coupe or MT sedan, I'm getting the sedan. Damn.
