Premium Package: Worth it?

If you're already getting leather and aren't thrilled with the visuals in auto dimming, are comfort access and a garage door opener worth $1900?

It would be a no brainer for me to get the Premium Package if you are already getting the leather. The difference is only $550 and Comfort Access is worth the extra money alone. Additionally, the new hands-free boot release feature is very handy. Once you live with Comfort Access, it's hard to go back to a car that doesn't have that feature. My beef with this package is that I don't want leather seats, but have to get the entire Premium Package if I want Comfort Access. It used to be a $500 stand alone option.

Depends on whether you want a 328i or 335i. ZPP on a 335 is $1900.00. And on a 328i it also adds power memory seats and other features which are standard on a 335i.

As I said in another thread, I ordered non-premium on a 335i because the seats had those extras. if I had ordered a 328i, I would have gotten the premium package and Xenons which would have come very close to the price of my preset 335i configuration.

I saw a 335i today with the leatherette and was quite impressed. Had I known this I would have contemplated a base 335i sport line instead of the 328i sports line with premium package.

I don't want the leather, but the leatherette doesn't have the cold weather package, so I might as well get the leather.

If I get the leather, I might as well get the premium package (includes sunroof for 328 too.)

If I get the premium package, might as well pick up the Xenon lights too.

I think the cost is on the high side, but the features are probably desirable on a luxury car for most people. Otherwise you are driving a pretty bare bones performance sedan.

Yes, but since you wanted leather already it's only a $550 upcharge from the $1450 they charge for Dakota Leather. For $550, the extras are worth it for me.

What do you mean "the leatherette doesn't have the cold weather package"? You can most certainly order cold weather package or heated front seats without leather seats or premium package.

A friend of mine has a X5 with leatherette and heated seats. He is very happy with it and doesn't regret not getting leather seats at all.

Yes, this is correct. You don't pay the full $1900 since you have already paid for the leather. I talked to my dealer about this when I ordered my 335i

Configurator doesn't let you...Could possibly be just the shitty configurator that BMW USA probably hired an intern to finish in a day though.

Can anyone confirm through dealer that cold weather package is able to be paired with leatherette seats? I am not planning on visiting my dealer until the 2013 model year debuts on this car. This will probably change my expectations greatly.

Garage List
I have the premium package on my X5, and I doubt I would want to live without my comfort access and dimming mirrors. It's such a huge advantage

That must be something they've done recently as I swear before one could select Cold Weather Package without leather seats/premium package. Also it might be some glitch in the system (at bmwusa.com), because on the configurator at bmwconfig.com one can still select Cold Weather Package without leather seats. Heated Front Seats can still be selected without leather seats at both configurators.

I admit, it is confusing. But my guess is that you don't leather to have heated seats or cold weather package. Perhaps someone else can chime in on the subject.

I do not think the prem. pkg is worth the extra price.

Also, I would not order an F30 or any BMW without heated seats and steering wheel. The $690 for those two are definitely worth it to me. But, I would not want to pay the extra to get the Cold Weather Pkg.

Just my 2 cents.

I would never consider NOT getting premium package. I had a 328i loaner without it and the side mirrors without auto-dim were brutal at night.

This question is like asking what's the best flavor of ice cream. Everyone has a different opinion on what they think it's worth to them. I would get it, but that doesn't mean it would be the right choice for you.
