hey i recently installed a aftermarket head unit on my bmw 428i. its been great, but the past few days my drivers side door speaker has been cutting in and out. and when it cuts out it stays out.

This Android unit likely came with a pass-thru harness that snaps into the factory head unit connector. I'd double check to make sure that everything is snapped in tightly because one of the speaker contacts to the head unit is likely loose.
