Hey everybody,

Im looking to get a set of Apex ARC-8's for my 2017 440i GC, but seem to be stumped as far as offsets and other specs go.

The specs i was considering running would be 18x9 et42 all around with a 265/35/18 tire. After doing measurements online and comparing them to stock wheels, it looks like the front wheels will be closer to the shock absorber.


Does anybody have 18" wheels on an F32/F36 and want to chime in? Looking to make the order for new wheels soon and want to make sure i dont run into fitment issues.

That wheel spec should fit, but maybe not with that tire size. You don't need 265 width tires on a 9" wide wheel anyway. Try 245/40/18 or 255/40/18 for a better fit and more clearance from the strut. APEX has run 18x9 ET42 with 245/40 in the front of their shop car just fine. Fitment in the rear will be comfortable.

Apex will only tell you to run an 'oem' setup. I would just do whatever alohasurftoad says.

I have the arc8 18x8.5 et38 with PSS 255/40/18 all around on the f30. I'm not sure if the fender wells are different with f32/36.. ?

There's maybe 1.5mm of clearance between the front wheel and spring perch, but it fits, no rubbing. The rears look like they could fit the nicer et30 concave version with 265..

Happy to help! The 18x9" ET42 is a great square fitment for the F3X chassis. We have tested 245/40-18 tires with no issues. We have had customers run 255/40-18 tires as well, but in some cases it may require a small spacer to clear your suspension (with possibly a touch of negative camber). This is dependent on tire brand/compound and suspension type.

We would not recommend going with 265/35-18 tires as those are a bit aggressive and require quite a bit of work to fit properly. In addition, a 9" wheel would not properly support a 265 tire. 255 is more than enough for the F3X chassis.

You can run our 18x9" ET30 wheels, but that will require some negative camber up front and possible fender roll in the rear. Going with a 255/35-18 tire would aid in clearance on that fitment. Check out a customer running the 18x9" ET30 with 255/35 tires here.

If it the same as f30 chassis, 235/245 front and 265/275 will work on 9 or 9.5 et 35/40

I'm running 235/40/19 8.5 et35 front and 265/35/19 9.5 et40. They actually go 2mm away from suspension on the rear. And Im looking actually to go 18" for track use on 285 or 295 drag radials with some Apex ce-7 et58.

This setup is ideal, but it seems pretty risky for someone who doesn't want to make any adjustments after the fact. Would the same wheel with 245/40/18 mitigate some of the risk? I'd run Conti Extremecontact DWS06 tires.

Also, does the F32/F36 have more wheel well space than the F30? Info on the F30 is readily available, but specific info like this is hard to find for the 4 series.

f32/f36 are wider overall, than f30's, however i don't know if it has more lateral space within each fenderwell.

using 245/40/18(instead of 255/40) would mitigate all of the risk. 245 is 10mm narrower(obviously), 0.3" less diameter and the tire shoulder will be tucked 5mm further due to the slight stretch on 9". the smaller diameter will increase fenderwell gap, so you might consider lowering if that bothers you.

Actually, 255 Continental ECS on 18x9 ET30 will rub on a lowered car with aggressive alignment in some cases so I wouldn't dismiss it as "no problem." It might also have a chance of rubbing on a car with stock suspension and stock alignment.

i said, if the 275 rear is not rubbing then 255 should not rub in the rear. there's people running oem 437m and 513m which are 9" +29 offset on 255's up front. some lowered, some stock height, some rubbed the fenderwell liners at full lock, some have not. it pokes way more than what i'd personally run, just trying to provide info.
