Hello,

Does anyone else seem to have issues with Spotify on their iPhone and the idrive...
When the car loads the app icon, I click it but it takes ages to open and then cuts off, then the app disappears? Very glitchy

Sometime to make it work I have to turn off Bluetooth in the car and turn it back on..

Any help?

seems to be par for the course, android and spotify is the same (although the newer app doesnt work full stop lol)

Spotify need to sort it!

Such a simple connection to have between a phone and a car... and yet so unpredictable

I used to have problems, but now they seem solved.
First I tried with Bluetooth version 1.4 and version 1.6, but ended up with setting version 1.5 on my phone (an Android phone).

Before I get into my car, I switch on BT and start the BMW app (not Spotify).
I start the car and the connection automatically starts the Spotify app and starts to play (can take a minute or so).

Note: on Android Spotify is only supported correctly upto version 8.5.66.1002 after that version Spotify dropped support for BMW iDrive.

I have both Spotify and Pandora accounts and a Iphone 12 and Google Pixel 4. I can tell you at different times depending on software updates they work and then get do not work. Eventually they work but it is usually a struggle of removing and downloading the apps again. And this happens on my other cars so it is not just BMW. You just have to work through it with patience. I think both platforms and music services are top notch and can not say one works better than the other. I usually end up just stream over BMW's I drive as its simple.

I can't seem to find the app with the bmw app would this be software version dependant ?

I think it only pops up if you have Spotify on your phone and connect via Bluetooth.

You need to have Spotify premium I believe

I guess that makes sense i've been trying with basic sub for spotify

Works on my basic Spotify account using iPhone .. my android phone never works with apps on bmw

It seems Spotify support on older iDrive was gone downhill. Logo out of center and disconnect issues are two of examples.

I gotta leave my iphone unlocked while plugged in and wait for the spotify app to show me the disclaimer. Then it connects without any problems...

Never thought about it, but on my completely unmodified 2018 F31 Spotify just plays off my Android phone when I start the car. I see album art and can skip to next track etc. Never changed anything on car.

Highly noob comment/question but how are you guys even accessing the Spotify app via the car? I thought support was dropped or something because I just have to connect via usb. Appreciate anyone who can walk me through this even if I have to upgrade.
