Is there anyone with ASD that can help me understand how the ASD harness connects to the hifi amplifier.

The pinout provided helps, but would very much appreciate some elaboration if possible.

Where do you find a KCAN2 connection? i have the base stereo upgraded to Bimmertech amp in the rear trunk amp space with the harness etc, so I have a good idea how to wire the audio inputs/outputs, but I have no idea where I could connect the KCAN2 pins to.

This should become a commercial retrofit, someone needs to market and sell it. I bet there are a lot of people who would be willing to pay a sizable chunk of money for this.

You can find a K-CAN2 connection at the FEM A173*10B Pin 10+11.
Also you should find it at the telematic communication box or the combox with the same wire colors.
Maybe you have the parking assitent you can find it there.
Also there are somes connections at the rear electronic module.

I made it to see ASD in ISTA.
RadOn is working, when calling ECU options I can disable the entertainment. I can read the state of the ASD module.

However still no sound!!
Esys is coded with F82 & S55 engine, but no sound yet.
I assume it is due the connections,

Can anyone clarify what cable needs to be connected to get it working ?

Thanks.

Funny how this whole thread is about how to program Active Sound IN while all the F8X guys talk about coding Active Sound OUT.

Yes, funny, but understandable. The F8X engine sounds good as it is. The N20 (earlier versions) does not have a good sound. I would love to do this to cover up the diesel-sounding N20. But I won't pay that much for a ASD unit

Does anyone have a part number for the ASD connector?
It would really be more easy to wire with this connector I think.

There are a lot of different connectors, i don't have indication of which power is relevant for which pin, I'm going to order for max amps for each sort, any problem with that?

Thanks!

Those metal pins 61 13 0 005 197 and 61 13 0 006 663 are super expensive, at 2-3 EUR apiece... and I need 16 of them + 6 wide pins, totalling nearly 50 EUR in just pins ! the ASD module itself is already 200 EUR... is there a better option for these pins I am not aware of?

Hi

Quick question - in the original instructions, there are no distinctions of polarity, ie no differentiation between FR+ and FR-, or even between KCAN2H and KCAN2L signals.

I just completed the wiring, but randomly chose +/-, I expect this will cause inversion of polarities on some of the channels. KCAN2 I think i'll just swap the wires if it doesn't work, should be easy to spot.

Any thoughts? Why doesn't ISTA give the specific instructions PIN per PIN?

Yes exactly - no indication of polarity in this table! Same for KCAN2, no high/low distinction

Could you also help me with the process of flashing the ASD with the right model/VIN? I don't know where to start.

Polarity you can see here.
KCAN2_H is Pin 18 and KCAN2_L is Pin 19.

Coding of ASD is very easy.
It's only VO Coding.
You only have to activate your VO, choose the ASD in Esys and push the button "code".
Then the ASD will be written with your VIN.

Yes, i think with the circuit diagram and the Pin assignment you can install the ASD on a car with no amp.
