Just out of interest, what mileage roughly did you hand it back with? , as I'm sure condition is partially mileage related.

I'd been hanging back on the alloy repairs, as I've got damage on 3 of mine, but I doubt very much that I could get them repaired as cheaply as £68 each and without the hassle.

How thorough is the inspection inside?

I would imagine a huge sense of relief when signing the paper for collection with everything agreed
It was on 20012 (9 miles over the allowance)

The car was due to get the wheels repaired a couple of weeks ago but a few people said it would be cheaper and less hassle to just pay the damage charge which as worked out in my favour saving me some money.

The inspection inside was quite detailed, he checked the computer first for the service history and checked the radio etc and if the first aid and triangle were in place.

It was a huge relief when I seen the total cost, really happy with the result.

It's going to BCA; I think he said either tomorrow or next week.

I have set an alert up for when the car comes up online to check what it looks like now in case they try to sting me.

How badly were the wheels damaged I’ve got 2 with about 2cm of damage on the rim I think mine are within the standards.

My heart sank when I saw the state of the wheel.

If it makes you feel any better, I picked up my interim hire car yesterday - F31 goes back tomorrow, F20 not due until November. It's a coral pink Fiat 500 1.2.

I'd be interested to see if you manage to track down your old car when it appears on BCA. I've registered with BCA and Manheim. Both companies have some auctions which are private and/or trade only.. if I understood their website and wording correctly!

The only question is whether I'll kill myself with the extra 270bhp or before it arrives...

But yes, it will certainly make me appreciate the 1 when it does get here!

I'm sure you're absolutely right. Would you like to borrow this Fiat 500 for a few weeks? I can add another driver foc, no problem. I'll look after your 330d, don't worry.

I found the car it's at BCA, it's showing more damage on the report than the initial report on Thursday.

Surprise, surprise. Probably from where their "professional drivers" have been ragging the granny out of it.

Its also showing missing service history.

It's like BCA don't know that books with stamps were phased out by BMW.

Tossers.

Will you be buying it back then?

Yep definitely agree, I have images of the damage and nothing was over 25mm so they can do one if they try and shaft me.

I thought that also, it's the first thing the inspection guide checked on Thursday.

Nope definitely wouldn't be buying it back, it's a super basic spec only option was heated seats.

The Boss’s Fiat 500 was collected by a nice gent from BCA (British Car Auctions). He was not the vehicle inspector.

The vehicle was leased through Arval, whose email instructions stated:

“Please also be aware that the vehicle is not inspected until it arrives at the auction site. The driver who collects your vehicle is NOT the Qualified inspector. Therefore we advise: if you are concerned regarding any scratches or dents on the vehicle, that you take photographs of all sides of the vehicle before it leaves your possession. These photographs must be dated and time stamped for evidence. This is because, as stated in your agreement, any faults on the vehicle that are not deemed as fair wear and tear, will be charged back to you via an invoice.”

This thread’s been very helpful in knowing what to expect from a collection inspection. I’ve set up an alert on the BCA site to track the Fiat …
