Automatic Curb Monitor (mirror dip)
I read the manual about this but hate this automatic feature. Anybody know how to disable this feature so my right mirror stays put when backing???

It should be in the right hand position so that the mirror is waiting for a manual entry, correct?

You can put the switch in the left position or in the center position. The switch is under the mirror selector on the armrest. The passenger mirror will dip only when the switch is toggled to the right (towards the passenger side).

I have disabled this feature myself, since it doesn't really help that much to see the curb. And I am unable to use it as a backup mirror to see how close I am to the cars/objects behind me. Just move selector switch to the RIGHT position as if you're changing your passenger mirror. It will stay put.

Not Page 58 in the on-line manual, but damn it, you're right. I had read the instruction but not the activation/deactivation portions. Hey....I'm a third day BMW owner!! Thanks.
Automatic Curb Monitor When the reverse gear is engaged, the mirror glass tilts downward slightly on the front passenger side. This improves your view of the curb and other low-lying obstacles when parking, for example. Activating 1. Slide the mirror changeover switch to the driver's side mirror position. 2. Engage transmission position R. Deactivating Slide the mirror changeover switch to the passenger's side mirror position.

Sorry I mislead you this morning. Realized my error after a cup of coffee and getting in the car. Glad you got the correct information.

I love dual purpose switches. It's fairly ingenious that BMW made that function so easily defeatable without adding a new switch or menu setting.

Thanks for the additional post. I had my statement completely off because the switch is set to the DRIVER’S SIDE to activate and the PASSENGER SIDE to deactivate.

Some would like that. Then those that were mistaken will be correct. I originally looked at the incorrect posts to see if they were in the UK.
