Setting up new TPMS
I have a 2014 428i xdrive, I just got 4 new ones, do I just need to reset the option on the settings, drive a bit and voila?

When I put new wheels on my 2015 model, the TPMS sensors connected with the car seamlessly. Same as you propose, I reset in the car to ‘store’ the current pressures as those for the system to watch for.

On my version of iDrive, it automatically opened the screen asking whether I wanted to reset the TPMS as soon as I started driving on my winter wheels.
One thing I noticed is the reset will work much quicker if you are driving somewhere without stopping. My route at the time had several stop signs and red lights, so the re-set process kept pausing every time I dropped below a certain speed. Took almost 15 minutes to complete the process. |

I usually just hop on the interstate after doing my winter/summer swap and it resets quickly enough. No city driving with too much stop and go.
I switched my exwife’s wheels over and her setup has a handheld transmitter that you walk up to each wheel in sequence and it resets it that way. 2015 Camaro My daughter’s car i have to add or drop a few psi in each tire in a sequence for it to reset. 2008 buick The transmitter is the easiest/fastest. |

Once I've topped off the tire pressure with a digital gauge as well i just hit reset once ive backed away down my driveway far enough from the other sensors and do a loop around the neighborhood and it resets probably in a 1/4 mile. cant see it being harder than that. It also allows me to verify that i dont hear or feel any driving issues
