Sounds like a great trip!! If you like wine, be sure to hit some of the better Oregon pinot noir producers. Lovely country and scenery to be sure.

I hope you have a nice dog cover for the back seats! Great that you are taking them.

+1 on the dog covers. Any recommendation that will fit the F80?

I've got a great rear seat cover, covers the entire rear seat and loops up behind the front seats as a barrier. I'll try to grab a link but I picked it up off of amazon and it fits great.

Hmmm I'll think about two sky; we have spent a lot of time in Van.

You picked an amazing road trip. If you havent been before be prepared to be amazed at how awesome the area around kelowna is. Not sure how long you'll be in the area, but there are some great wineries if you head a little south to Narramata not to mention some great driving. If you are staying the night eat at Quails Gate Winery. All around one of my favorite places in in the world to have dinner.

When driving coquihalla highway lets just say you'll get the best out of your M on that stretch. Keep it slow coming in and out of Merritt and Hope, but the rest is pretty fair game.

Oregon coast is freaking amazing.

What hotels have you picked?

Sounds like a great trip! A few thoughts:

1) my wife and 2 kids (10 and 12 at time) did 15 night oregon tour in aug '16
Portland 1
Cannon beach 2
Yachats 1
Bandon 2
Grants pass 1
Sunriver 6
Drive along columbia river on route back to portland

If you can do more of a mini loop the drive may be more interesting? If resort type place (warmer than coast which was a good change) you could cut those nights like sunriver down.

2) do you golf? Bandon is a must but otherwise not worth it? Sunriver has great golf too.

3) on a separate trip we have driven vancouver - seattle. Boeing factory tour is super cool but look up reservations asap.

4) as I just dropped off my car in zurich yesterday 14 day 1600km ED i can say your mileage is ambitious

Have a word doc whole itinerary if you want to pm me.

If you need tips on anything, I have a few. I did a tiny drive from Seattle to (via milk crime country) Detroit to NJ and then back to Seattle via everything, and by everything I mean everything.

I live along your proposed route, so will wave as you pass by.

You have mapped out a great drive, the only suggestion I have would be that the Washington southern coast is not as impressive as the Oregon side. I would cut out a bit of the S. Wash coast, and go a bit further down in Oregon. Don't rush, poke and take time to see and do things. Besides, with the dogs, you will be forced to stop more often, and that will be a good thing.

Fellas this has been a huge help! Made it to Kelowna and hit Skunk cabbage boardwalk on the way.

It poured rain for over half the drive and construction was a nightmare.

Ya, but it'll be better going over the Coquihalla tomorrow, probably snow..............................just kidding, but it has been a wet and cooler early summer in Kelowna, not that I mind that really. Looks like you are in the upper Mission area now.

If you like good beer, check out Rogue Brewery in Newport. It's right near the mouth of the bay, so there are fantastic views. When I lived in Portland I used to visit friends in Newport often - we would sail for a bit during the day then dock at the brewery and drink for hours lol. Great people and fantastic beer.

Some others mentioned the Oregon Sand Dunes... +1 on this for sure. That whole area from around Coos Bay to Florence is just beautiful.

Finally - Olympia, WA is a great little town on the southern part of the Puget Sound that is worth stopping at IMO. I lived there for a while and absolutely loved it. So much good food, beer, and wine... and an awesome little art/music scene. From most areas in town, you have stunning views of Mt. Rainier. If you have the time, because it's a little out of the way, you can drive out on the peninsula northwest of Olympia and there is a temperate rainforest out there. It's so wild and beautiful, unlike anywhere else I have been in the US.

Have a great trip!

Great, my wife and I have lived in the Upper Mission area of Kelowna since we moved here in 1990.

Have a good drive to Seattle, traffic from Everett on down thru Seattle usually heavy and a pain; but it opens up again after you get south of Tacoma.
