The question is more whether Verstappen is going to be able to limit the damage by coming through to finish second; perhaps he will but if he's a bit impatient and ends-up having a coming together Lewis could well be leading the championship with two races to go.... |

Yes, quite amusing to get the hurry up straight from Toto!

Bottas' pace in third on old tyres looks decent. Enough to get a pit stop in hand on Alonso and Perez? Any chance of late race pressure on Max?

Easy for Lewis today and his destiny is in his own hands; win the last two races - which looks very achievable given the relative performance in the last two - and world title number eight is his....

What a season!
Karen Horner is off to see the stewards as well! Terrible team race from Bottas - with the Merc pace they should have scored 1-2 today for the constructors.

They could end up going to the last race level on points.
One of the greatest ever F1 seasons.

Incredible qualy session!
That track is immense, and makes for compelling viewing seeing how close they get to the walls, and how little run off there is. Despite being a Lewis fan, I did feel gutted for Max, as he was on for an incredible lap. Can't wait for the race tomorrow now.

It could prove to be a very costly mistake… Especially if he gets a gearbox penalty as well.

Best case is someone from behind punts max into the wall. Dont know if Bottas will be getting a penalty. He had an incident with KIMI. |

His lap was absolutely sensational until then, although obviously the former pace was what led to the latter incident. With that pace advantage and the fire he had in him on that run hopefully he'll snipe Bottas off the start as per and then manage to have a good battle with Lewis. Not gonna lie, much though I can admire and respect Lewis' talent I really do want to see someone else win the championship this year. Lewis' 'Valterri is the best team mate that has ever been in this sport ever' was a little boak inducing, much as when he says 'you've got the best fans ever' into the microphone at every race. |

It could indeed prove costly but if Verstappen doesn't win the title this year I think it will be Silverstone where he lost it. He could have backed-out at Copse and, even if he hadn't got past Hamilton later in the race, he'd have almost certainly had an easy second and 18 points. That would now have him 26 points ahead instead of 8 and just needing (relatively speaking!) to trundle round for a couple of podium finishes to secure the championship. But as it is he's under pressure to beat Lewis and making mistakes.....

Agree if Max doesn't win the championship Silverstone was a mistake for him, an older wiser racer would have give some space, it's a marathon not a sprint etc

Gutted for Max - he was putting together an amazing lap.
Such a fast circuit. I just hope that by being such a high average speed it doesn't kill the opportunities for overtaking

Absolute scenes
Verstappen very lucky with the restart free pitstop and then again trying to run Lewis off on lap 15 restart 1st corner.
