I do plan on eventually cranking it up a bit and tuning it if I went with the bigger turbo, but definitely not for quite a while. I’ll need to save up and recoup from all this before I feel comfortable turning it up, if that makes sense.

Proven choices for the N20 include (but not limited to) TTE400 and MHI TD04 20T
Yup that’s exactly what I’m looking at, the MHI “big” turbo. TD04 20T. It’s $1,399.99 on Bimmerworld and it comes with the exhaust manifold etc. When I compare that to $1100+ for a factory replacement manifold/turbo, it kinda just makes sense. I actually spoke to someone over at Bimmerworld yesterday and was told I could run the MHI turbo at stock boost and I’d experience very little to no lag compared to the stock turbo since I have a catless down pipe, as well as have colder charge temps because the bigger turbo is more efficient. I might just go that route.

Update:

Ended up buying the MHI big turbo. I’ll probably be keeping it factory tuned for a bit until I’m comfortable with the setup. It’ll also have a VRSF catless downpipe, FTP charge and boost pipe, FTP intake pipe and injen short ram intake. Should be a fun little 328i! I’ll keep you guys updated as the build progresses.
