I have a 2012 F30 currently equipped with CHAMP2/ENTRY.

I know CHAMP2 cannot drive the 8.8” CID. However, what if an MMI box was thrown in the mix? Then technically the HU would be outputting ID to the MMI, and the MMI would be driving the display. Thoughts?

My problem: Want OEM 8.8” and CarPlay (CarPlay most importantly) but don’t want to spend the full amount on a NBT Evo retrofit. I have explored aftermarket options like the Avin and Andream but I just don’t know how I feel about putting an aftermarket headunit in my car. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.
