Do some more research on valvetronic but I remember seeing someone's write up on them. Apparently the fitment was horrendous and the valve stopped working shortly after receiving it. They added a whole bunch of emails to the thread too with valvetronics response and their answers were very sub par. As far as noise, the mperformance is very quiet when driving day to day but considerably louder on start up. The valvetronic is a bit louder than the mperformance with the valve open and about the same volume with the valve closed.

The valvetronic is a straight pipe with valves open and the m performance is just louder then the non m. When it comes down to $$ or value, I would go valvetronic but then again some people say the m performance with a catless downpipe is a perfect pair.

In my opinion, catted downpipe + REMUS axle back is the best setup for the Xdrive

fyi

i finally got my replacement exhaust.

i keep saying ill do a full review and i still will, but despite all of the customer service side issues the replacement exhaust itself fits dramatically better. its not exactly perfect but thats okay. at this point anything is an improvement.

i have other videos to edit and publish but i will get one out in the next few weeks. it will be honest as i feel pretending all the negative didnt happen would be a disservice. i said before that id never buy another thing from them, im not sure i ever will but im less adamant about it now.

No mods are CA legal unless approved by CARB (California air resources board). I have not seen a single N55 mod that has this approval, whether its IC, CP, DP, etc. Technically you can fail a visual inspection for any mod not CARB approved. However it is generally easy to find a shop that will overlook basic things like that in visual inspection if you pass emissions/OBD2. So for DP, you would need fabspeed or AA essentially.

I forgot about Dinan, since no one runs those piggybacks anymore lol. Some of their products are CARB approved, but not all of them.

For example, intake is not CARB approved: https://www.dinancars.com/products/e...arts/D760-0038

Their older piggybacks are CARB approved. Their new flash tune is CARB pending.

So i may have overstated before, but dinan aside, not aware of any other company with CARB approval on their products. Infact, most wont direct ship to CA and you have to order via a vendor.

Also for context, you have 8 years from car model year before you need to get smog check in CA.

I have a couple years to fool around...needs to find a good smog spot that wont "sniff" around the car for bolt ons.

Neither, go with the AWE touring edition or the touring edition with the non resonated midpipe.
