Hey, so I think this is a thread relevant to my issue.

Anyone know if the park button can be removed from the selector and how to do it? Mine is sticky, so I want to clean it (the ONE time I put a drink in my cupholder instead of my sunglasses and a drop gets in there to make it stick!).

You can upshift and downshift, but the car won't stay in M or S mode, it just kicks you back to D. As far as the lack of a Park button, I just turn the car off and it goes into park. Definitely still needs some work on the coding side, but I'm glad to find out that it can potentially work.
This has been known in other threads for at least a year.

No one has been successful in at total working retrofit in EU or NA afaik.

Many say they are working on it....then disappear.

No, but it's very simple, just pop out the trim and install it like you would the sport gear selector, it's plug and play. It works but I ended up switching it back out because I couldn't figure out how to get rid of the annoying "gear selector malfunction" error on the screen.

Reading between the lines of someone who did this in EurAsia, I *believe* they transplanted a F8x stick on F3x electronics.

Couldn't the internals be swapped over between sticks?

Still can... as long as it's the 6MT!

428i

Is this confirmed as okay to do without any coding .

I have a 428i SE and bought exact same Gear selector but it came from a M sport should it just plug and play?

I would like to put the selector that has the "M" included in the X4 m40i on my F30.

The code of the part that I would like to install is: 61319288833

Do you guys know if this one fits my car (340i 2018)?

Using the process I suggested as most likely to work above over a year and a half ago (April 2018).

Has anyone tried just removing the top part to get at the LED module.? I have some burnt out ones and might be easier to repair than changing and coding the whole assembly. thx.

I did. You have to pry off the "glass" piece with the gear indicators, then you have to unscrew some screws to get to the board with the leds.

Keep in mind that the glass piece is glued on, so it's a little bit hard to remove without breaking it. I broke it and had to replace it

How are you guys getting that bottom left screw in/out? I had to fight to get it out and don't see myself getting it back in without cutting some plastic.

Yep, it's a bit of a bitch. Done it twice without breaking or drilling/cutting anything though. Try some trim tools to flex the plastic gently.

Wasn't able to finesse it. Ended up doing some cutting and filing and that did the trick.
