Thumbs up Joining the ranks - first 3'er! '15 328i RWD!

Hey all - some of you may recognize my username, others may not. Either way, been around the BMW scene for a long time mostly E34s - still have a pretty modded up E34 525i. We had our son who is now 8 weeks old and I couldn't sleep loading him into my '95 525i daily with no A/C, rusting doors, broken everything (almost), etc.

Tonight I went to the dealer we bought my wifes X1 M Sport from and test drove a CPO '15 328 xDrive and 328i (RWD). xDrive was premium, cold weather, sport line, and lighting package, nav, comfort assist, and rear view/pdc. It was Alpine White on black w/ red stitching. I wasn't a fan of how it drove overall. It was a "fine" car - but the steering was heavier (that my wifes X1 M sport, even). I also don't picture myself in an Alpine car. I know that sounds silly.

I then drove a '15 Black Sapphire on black w/ red stitch 328i (RWD) sport line with nav, m sport suspension, sport trans (and paddles), sport seats, lighting package, servotronic, etc. and loved it. The sport trans... awesome. I wanted to go 335 with 6MT but A) finding one and B) convincing my wife to learn stick wasn't worth it. I know auto is the new thing and the ZF 8 speed is EXCELLENT with the sport trans programming + paddles. I know a lot of people ask if sport trans is worth it and having driven a car w/o it and a car w/ it, I have to say it's absolutely worth it.

Real lame pics (but bonus Atlantis M2 in background) that you've all seen a million times, but hey, I am excited to have a modern daily The N26 has plenty of spunk for me as a daily (coming from a 253k mile '95 525i with LSD/5MT). I still have the fun car to make smoke with so all is good. Hoping to learn from everyone here!

Better pics to follow for sure. Joining my wifes (also) Black Sapphire Metallic X1 M Sport

very nice, black on black 3er would have been my second choice if I didn't find my red on black 4er.

My kid just bought a 15 CPO 328i. He loves it, and he can afford more car if he wants it, but the 3 checked all the boxes. It also happens to drive better than anything else in its class. (We have a 2016 C300 that creaks, rattles, rasps, moans and rides like its on bowling balls. We've also had an A5. The 3 has so much better build quality. ride quality, handling and performance than either of them.)

His was pretty plain... no M Sport, 17" wheels, chrome trim everywhere. He had the chrome wrapped, did staggered 18" M3 Reps on Michelin Super Sports, an M steering wheel and swapped the aluminum look trim for a carbon fiber wrap. Now it looks sinister AF.

Here's how sinister it looks: He works as a live sports football producer for ESPN, SEC, CBS. For games here in Northern Florida where we live he just drives to the stadium to meet the production truck. At the stadium there is a VIP parking lot for the athletes. Security has a guy standing at the gate waving the players through. My kid was in line waiting to get into the regular press lot when the VIP guard waved him into the lot with all the exotic cars and SUVs. He saw the 328 all butched up and just assumed it was a players car.

Oh boy - there's a lot to tell. The basics are that it's a '92 525 5 spd but now has a fully built engine, custom intake, turbo, methanol, and I throw a little nitrous on it from time to time.

They had an M Sport package in estoril, but it didn't have many other options - no paddles, no lighting package (a requirement for me!). I may, some day, put the M Sport aero on. But for now, I like it!

Thanks yeah - now with two black sapphire cars I have plenty of cleaning to do

Ha nice - sounds like he's got a sharp looking car!

Here's a his/hers shot via cell phone:

Its crazy how different her paint looks - her car is FILTHY, so that might have something to do with it.

Thanks! Don't doubt that I've already started to try and find another set of those for my car. I really like 666M, but her wheels/aero sold the car for us!

Wow not to change the subject a C300 2016 and it makes all the sqeex rattles , I guess they don't make em like they used too. I owned a 93 E class wagon for 6 yrs, thing was built like a tank..
