For the blue GPS connector you have to look if there is a cable connected now.
My ID4 HU had the blue GPS connector but nothing was connected because the GPS signal comes from the ATM.
On my new ID6 HU there is no GPS connector and is not needed because of the ATM.
So I just had to install the new HU, code it and everything worked (connected drive, etc.).
Thank you for the info. Will have a look at my unit first then

Hi guys. i really need help. i bought a pre coded ID6 unit and installed it into my car. everything was working fine. I wanted to access the nbt evo system and bimmer code showed me read code error. To my surprise i saw two HU in esys one in red. Which i suppose it is my old unit. How could i please get bimmer code to work again on my HU. Do i need to remove the old HU on esys. Please advise me on how.

Thank you.

Upgraded HU id6

I upgraded the head unit in my 2015 528i everything works great purchased from Bimmer Tech they did all the coding and everything and all is well or so I thought. My BMW was recently under a recall and I took it back to the dealer for the recall which involves a computer update. About 30 minutes after I drop the car off I got a phone call they needed the old head unit to install in car in order to do the update apparently there is a computer somewhere in the vehicle that is still linked to the old head unit and won’t allow them to do any sort of computer update without the original HU. I asked if there was anyway that it can be programmed to the new head unit and the answer was no. Has anybody else come across or encountered this with their upgrades.

I'm pretty sure I know the coding steps but was hoping someone could validate for me

1) Physically install the NBT EVO ID6 unit to the car
2) Turn on the car ignition and open Esys
3) Open External Applications -> Transmitter
4) Run the 'readVin' job to discover VINs against ECUs
5) Capture Donor VIN of Head Unit
6) Switch over to 'FSC Extended' tab
7) Connect to 0x63 and Identify
8) Use the WriteVIN job to update the vin of the donor HU with my own VIN
9) Switch over to 'Coding' Tab
10) Activate the FA
11) Read ECU
12) Right Click the HU NBT and Code

I then just need to purchase FSC codes for my VIN on the new iDrive unit and inject?

Many thanks,
A
Installed a new head unit HW 4.1. I have "No Signal" on the display. I followed the above steps, however the ReadVIN did not return the VIN of the donor NBT-EVO. Also, the installed unit became very warm to the touch. I noticed this after I pulled the unit to ensure all all cables were connected correctly.

Does this mean the unit is bricked if it won't respond?

Is your 340i a 2016 model? If so, are you using the original display 8.8" display? If that's the case, you need to FDL code the screen parameters to APIX1 and SPI.

Thanks Steve - Yes my cars is a 2016 model and I am using the original display. I'll have to give that a try.

I understand with the latest esys you can't FDL code without using another tool. Is that correct?

You can. You can use free launcher pro 2.8.1 for that or get better solution like EsysUltra

When perform a readvin, I don't see the vin of the donor, only of my car. Not sure I'm doing it correctly, but all instructions I've read suggested both should show up. Maybe the donor vin is being read and I just don't know where to find it. Any help is appreciated.

So it appears to run, but in the HU_NBT [63] line it contains [yyyyyy] after the [63] with two dots above the "y"s. Should the VIN be shown there?

I downloaded the app from a google search and was unable to launch it. Said Token was invalid. I pointed to the token file downloaded from Mega.

Hi, last year I bought a used F31 equipped with:

S606 Navigation System Business
S698 Area-Code 2 For DVD
S6AC Intelligent Emergency Call
S6AE Teleservices
S6NH Hands-Free System With USB Interface
S6UH Traffic Information
I’d like retrofit NBT EVO ID6 and 8.8” touch display.

Does anyone know what I need to code in the HU to change the navigation from receiving info from the ATM to receiving info from the blue connector on the back? I can't seem to find a thread with the required FDL changes.

Thanks!
