Water injection

Any one running water injection ? Looking to control IAT temps so have ordered a Cobb development charge pipe and looking at options but drawn towards the aquamist HFS4 kit what’s your thoughts ? Or anyone have a current set up they would like to share information

It's what the M4 competition (I think that's it) comes with right from the factory. Has a reservoir in the trunk to allow for higher HP by lowering IAT.

Interested in finding out as well from an aftermarket perspective.

The M4 GTS runs a Bosch water injection system from stock.

Cant seem to find much information tbh everything b58 or n55 related is guys running WMI but at 100% methanol.

Only really looking at the cooling advantages of running a injection system. I don’t really want to upset the fuel trims and deff not interested in running a meth dependent calibration.

I’m currently collecting parts so plan to have everything sourced and start installation over the winter.

It should work just fine. Buy your WMI kit, get the smallest nozzle, and fill it up with distilled water.

Kern417 has a thread talking about lowering IAT's and a video. He might have some insight?

You can run water with a smaller nozzle for sure and get the car dialed in, but it's best to drop in some meth also at least a 50/50 mix for that additional octane boost. I ran 100% on my B58 in the past, but that shit is scary with a boiling point of around 150F IIRC lol so it can become an invisible flame. I have meth on my 335is and I run a 60/40 mix and feel much better about that than 100% meth.

Any recommendations on nozzle size etc ?

I’m drawn between a few progressive controllers that are on the market also I already have a cobb development charge pipe on order and this seems to be the best on the market as the npt port is as far away from the throttle body as possible.

I do

My opinion - If you're running CPI then spray water. Use a small nozzle. The water will evaporate in the intake charge and cool it off so the intercooler doesn't work as hard. It's not as ideal as it would be in an engine with an air-to-air intercooler, but it still will work great. Just keep in mind that if it's hot outside, it'll always be hot. You can't cool IATs below ambient due to our intercooler setup.

When you say small, Anything you recommend I could try ?

I stay in Scotland so I think I may need to run a small meth dilution as ambient temps hear are very unpredictable but I do only run my car in mainly summer.

As far as the nozzle size for running only water I have no idea to be honest its best to probably contact https://www.coolingmist.co.uk/ and get some feedback or even Twisted Tuning. When I was running meth on my B58 I was using BMS recommended dual BM7, but I was injecting through the throttle plate. If I had to do it again I would just get a charge pipe and inject a single nozzle to give it a bit more head room for atomization.

I'm about to have wmi kit in my car.
Not ready yet to custom tune for better octane/fueling, hp gain.
Could i use my kit for water injection as cooling purpose?
Distilled water works?
Any product can be use to prevent clogging tubes?

Would not recommend trying to tune charge pipe injection. For cooling purposes and a bit of octane help, sure it works great. But the cylinder distribution from the throttle body isn't the best. You could do PI if you're gonna tune for meth.

I have personally been running CPI for over a year now with a single 1,000cc AEM nozzle tuned by F80 Paul and I have had no issues. I log once in a while to check everything and my engine seems to be happy still. At the moment I am in the process of adding a second methanol bung to my charge pipe for a dual nozzle setup. Doing this mostly to test and compare the difference between two small nozzles vs a single large one.

For cooling purposes it should work just fine, just utilize a small nozzle. To prevent clogging it mostly comes down to flushing out the WMI system before using it, only using distilled water and a adding filter. AEM, Snow Performance, Pro Meth, and other companies all have inline filters. Snow has different fitting variations of the same filter so just pick the one you need.

Port injection or Meth Port Injection?

Port Injection was my first plan but most of the video i have seen didn't encourage me doing so. Grinding a part of intake manifold to make it fit, not for me.

Meth Port Injection, i love that idea but not in my budget for now. Complex wiring + controller could cause lot of problems. Williams isn't affordable for me currently.

Ordered Snow Performance stage 2.5, "the kit comes with 2 nozzles (4 gal/hr and a 6 gal/hr)"
I plan on using/testing the system as it is at first.
Then maybe dual stage, i will work this out with my mechanic, he has way more experience than i could ever have.

No you don't wanna do that port injection will give you plenty of fueling or I should say more than enough fueling.
