VRSF 6.5 Intercooler is only held by two screws?

The VRSF 6.5 IC is 27lbs vs the OEM 8lbs.

The package comes with two types of screws. There's no instruction for the installation. But I believe we only need two screws that goes right into the cooler fan bracket (where the OEM IC screws go into).

The left screw only went in 80% while the right screw went in 100%.

Is the rubber piece supposed to go in between the fan bracket and IC?

Is it really safe to install the VRSF 6.5 IC with only two screws ?

Yes, that's how everyone installs it. Did you use OEM screws? They should go all the way in.

Also, you should have the ducting underneath as well.

I used one set of the screws that they provided.

Where does the rubber piece go?

In between the IC and Fan bracket OR In between the IC and Screws?

I have the 6in vrsf intercooler and I didn't trust it to be held in by those two screws. So I made custom top brackets to help support from the top.

The boost pipe and charge pipe provide support as well. I don't think much, but some. I've had mine on for about a month now and haven't had any issues, and haven't notice it sag or shift.

What did you make the brackets from - or where did you get them? And what did you bolt them to?

Me and my dad got 3 feet of 3/8 steel and we measured it out and cut holes for the screw location

VRSF Race IC

yeah, went with the VRSF 7.5" Race IC. It weighs 40lbs!
two screws and the turbo to IC and charge pipe are the only things holding it in. 1.5 years hard driving. zero issues.

The 7.5 is only on the E chassis, on the F it's 6 -6.5 (I never got confirmation which is which)

But, is it really 40lbs?

I can't comment on the E chassis IC. F chassis is certainly not 40 pounds. It's heavy, but not 40 pounds. The 27 pounds above sounds correct.

Edit: 1bad14-F30 did you get the 7.5 inch intercooler? I thought that was only e chassis and would not fit our cars. Race is 6.5" for the f30/f chassis

Installed the VRSF 6.5" 4 months ago with the 2 screws they provided. The TIC pipe and charge pipe help support as well. No issues at all.

Haven't gotten under there yet, but how did you place the rubber spacers they provide with the screws?

Wth the screws coming in from the bottom: screw, Spacer, ic mount, Spacer?

Screenshot from VRSF. When I bought, it said 7.5" Stepped Race Intercooler. It is a beast.

Take special note of the difference in dimensions and weight between this one and the last one I posted for the F30. Both OVER 40lbs. I'm not crazy fellas.

E Chassis is 11 inches thick.
F Chassis is 17 inches thick.

I haven't called VRSF to verify. Could their numbers be wrong on their website? Surely. I just know it is a monster, is held in by those 2 screws with no issue and works like it says.

Take a good look at the pics as well. I am not a rocket scientist, but the F30 IC LOOKS bigger in every way.

Honestly, that’s all wrong.
That’s the box dimensions, not the IC. I had the competition model, and it was only 8” tall, and about 6.5” deep (I don’t remember exactly) the RACE model is literally the same but taller, so about 11” tall. And while the comp was heavy, it wasn’t near 40lbs and I’d be pressed to say over 30lbs. I don’t think the extra added core was adding 10lbs either

Maybe sometime here soon, I will call them and get to the bottom of the numbers on the IC itself and the seemingly off numbers on their website.
That being said, I don't really care. It's on, it works great, it has a lifetime warranty. IAT's are as low as I can get them. No heat soak for continued pulls or top end boost.

Lol, good luck on a phone call, it’s email only. I emailed them about it a while back and they gave me the same dimensions on the webpage.

LOGS PLEASE! And a small review - WGDC, throttle response - what kind of ambient temps. Do you notice the weight on the front?

Edit, LYTSOUT actually weighed the competition to be 27lbs - VRSF lists it at 31lbs. So just expect the website to be wrong.

did you received the rubber washers with the IC?

I received my 6.5'' IC last week and only 2 screws was included, not 2 sets of screw and no rubber washers.

I've contacted vrsf and they told me that only 2 screws was included.

there's no top mount hole on my IC. that would be useful

I know I won't be the first one to use only the regular mounting tab but I'm a bit worried about the weight increase and the fact that it will only hold by 2 screws. ok they are longer than the oem but still...

extra weight + condition of the roads in my area might give a hard time to the plastic thread over time... we'll see I guess.
