BMW 328i F30 Drifting Skid Pan video

Guys, I really had to share this with you… I was on the skid pan today with my 328i and what a rush of adrenalin! I feel SO ALIVE that it felt like my soul was bursting through my skin throughout my entire body - and it lasted for 4 hrs after the event finished!

THIS is how to drive the F30!!!!!!
Here’s the video

Traction control was off which meant full engine responsiveness, weighty steering and adaptive suspension in hard mode. Sport seats were set to full hug.

Words cannot describe how sweet, masterful, and thrilling it is when you are able to hold a drift through the 3 cones and then nail the slalom straight afterwards. Even the instructors were pumped for me (despite being hardcore WRX fans) – and were clamouring to have a go themselves (which I permitted).

***Watching it again this morning i realise this isnt thie vid with drift... My friend took lots of footage so hopefully when i get my hands on those one of them is showing me doing lots of circle work.***edit

This event was organised by the WRX club. My mate who is a member & has a 135i brought another 135i, an HSV VY R8, and me along. Very well organised training event and great instructors!

THIS IS WHAT BMW’S ARE ALL ABOUT!!!

It feels sooo good to scratch the itch I’ve had about doing a burnout in my car with DSC switched off.

What a day!

This is me spinning out as I got too cocky & exhuberent.

The zoom makes it a little clearer to see the rear wheel lock and drift over the first video

Wow that looks fun! Nothing like a F30 playing in the rain.

Looks like good fun! If I may offer one piece of advice though, when you feel the car start to rotate, you're backing off the gas too much, that's causing the sharp weight transfer visible as the car quickly rocking one way then the next. Keep your foot in and focus on picking a steering angle and then using your right foot to work the rear of the car.

Your spin would have been a lovely transition if you hadn't backed off the gas completely!

Thx for the tip and you are correct. These videos were early in the session. I improved later that day. Hopefully one of my more masreful runs was captured on vidwo. Still waiting on my mate to cough up

It was strange but the car stalled and i had to restart the engine!

I also took a deep breath as i was so pumped with adrenaline. Didnt work as my last zip thru the cones was messy. You can tell as the car is lurching more.

Finally got hold of the remaining vids.

So this is where I managed to control the slip a bit better. Unfortunately my best attempt was not caught on video (though it was in still shots), but you can see this was a hoot!

Next video will be up shortly with more slipping & sliding fun

This run was driven by my instructor from the wrx club. He gets a good rotation after a few trials
