Warranty Extension Pricing

Just had the call about extending the warranty on my car as per the below.

Just wondering if anyone has been able to get better prices than this and how.

Cheers

Ps car mileage is ~41k.

That's broadly the same as what I am looking at for a 85k 330d.

What I was surprised to learn was that I can take it out on a monthly basis then, when I approach 100k miles, take out a full 12 months (which in my case will be another 25k miles).

Sounds like a plan. I'm leaning towards paying for the full year then moving to monthly if there are no issues in the 1st year.

I haven't been able to get a better price than the list price. I did search online but many other companies came up with similar prices. So I thought well it is BMW at the end of the day... well technically it is Allianz but in agreement with BMW so why not go ahead?! I paid outright for the year because monthly works out more.

Agree with all said - I would just take the Comprehensive with BMW Assist and pay annual if you are keeping it for the term. I tend to go for maximum excess but clearly up to you (probability of needing it low vs when you do it will probably be an expensive repair so no objection to paying a £250 excess)... I think it is reasonable value and you know it is a good policy and a lot less hassle than shopping around and getting warranty from one place and breakdown from somewhere else and then finding what you thought was covered isn't...

Is there a statement from BMW as to what is covered by those prices, vs what is considered fair wear and tear? Or is wear n tear covered?

T&C's are in a BMW document, pdf version is readily available. Wear and tear is included, explained in the T&C's.

It's a funny one cos the man that called wasn't able to confirm if my MPE was covered by the warranty he is hopefully calling back later to confirm.
Although he did say if my exhaust was Akrapovic it was would definitely be covered :

From this page...

https://www.bmw-warranty.co.uk/Compr...hensiveDetails

Comprehensive Insured Warranty covers all mechanical and electrical components of your vehicle for defects - except the items listed below:

All exhaust components (except catalytic converter)
All service items which will require periodic replacement
Any item that has worn out which has covered more than 100,000 miles
Auxiliary drive belts
Batteries - including BMW i3 and BMW i8 high voltage and auxiliary batteries
Brake and clutch facings
Bulbs and fuses
Channels and guides
Cleaning or adjustment of any component/carbon/soot buildup
Coolant and fuel hoses
Discs and drums
Glass
Handles, hinges and check straps
Trim, upholstery and cosmetic finishes
Wheels and tyres
Wiper blades and arms
Weather strips and seals

...and under FAQs...

However all insured components, even if the failure is due to normal degradation (wear and tear), are included up to 100,000 miles from date of registration.
A facility for UK roadside recovery only - Warranty Assist - is included with BMW Insured Warranty.
Comprehensive cover is available for vehicles with mileage under 100,000 miles (at the time of purchasing the warranty). The BMW Insured Warranty will not cover any vehicle that is used for private hire or courier services. This includes, hire and reward, taxi or chauffeur services.

My comments... that 100k miles figure is ambiguous. It means, as I understand it, a total of 100k miles, not another 100k from the date of buying the warranty.

You'll see from post #9 that he is misleading you.
