OK so fully repaired now




One of the HVA's had collapsed..



Had all 24 replaced with new ones



My wallet is £1400 lighter but the car sounds as it should now

Went to a BMW specialist, Guys said it sounded mechanical for sure so they took the valve cover off and inspected everything, they inspected the HVA’s and you could see one was collapsed and another wasn’t quite springing back 100%. Replaced all now so one less thing to worry about.

Although the repair was a bit pricey, at least the root cause was properly diagnosed. Glad all is well.
