Lol - as someone who's completely de-badged their car, I think it's pretty silly and tacky.

I debadged just about every sports car I've owned prior to this one, but for some reason I like the black 135i badge on the car still. I have no idea why though.

Maybe because the 135i is not a sports car

It's their car and their money, they should be able to do what they want with their car no matter how shotty it looks. If it a M Performance car , it has the right to adorn M badging. We forget BMW is a publicly held company and cant make money selling to just purists. Now if you want to be exclusive, let them double the price and go private or leave the brand and buy a Konesigg.
I agree, its stupid but I will not lose sleep over it.

I had a guy on a local group give me shit about my grille stripes. I said, dude, BMW put M on my engine, wheels, brakes, door sills, steering wheel, m stripes on my seats, digitally on my dash and on my bumper, I don't see the damn problem.

I am someone who likes to de-badge cars; Shit if I could find painted fill pieces to remove the BMW logos on the car I would. I also bought it for the chassis and would prefer not to show off.

That being said people who put M badges on cars might be smart. Most people in the world couldn't tell you the difference between real and a badge unless you pointed out all the specifics. And most could care less about it.

What does matter to them is the badge/name and showing off that they can afford or afford to lease the car. And if they can do that and spend much less doing it then arn't they winning? A small group actually use the enthusiast car for what it should (many on this forum) but the big chunk use it as a status piece.

So Of course you expect people who pay full price to be mad when people pay much less to achieve the same effect.

I can't stand that. it boils my blood. Around where I work I see a 2005 honda CRV and the person modified the front grill with a Mercedes logo and the rear hatch door has the Mercedes logo too with the model GLE550...

I also can't stand the people with fake M5.

People are making a mistake in using "sports car" instead of performance car, but even so, a 135i is one of the cheapest BMWs to insure in my state.

^ as much as I hate it......I have to say it's well executed. That vinyl work is super clean and very well done. Love the car, the side skirts, the bumper and the wheels, hate the color, although it is clean as hell. Mixed emotions on the seats. I like the seats, not a fan of the color or the massive ///M blazoned across the back. I also hate that everyone puts carbon fiber vinyl on everything instead of using real carbon fiber. Those calipers are definitely the wrong color choice for such a "low-key" color scheme. Assuming it's the lighting and that not just the driver side head lamp has been tinted/wrapped.

I want to hate it, but somehow....I just can't.

Nah, screw it. I hate it. Someone just needs some attention. This is what happens when you take a bunch of great components and put them in the hands of someone a little more extra than everyone else. All the 12-16 year olds will all think it's the coolest car they've ever seen.

To be fair, BMW isn't helping by putting M logos on every car they produce. They're killing the M brand way faster than a couple of teenagers with riced out 325s.

M340, M240, X6M.... give me a break. BMW needs to cut this stupid shit out before anyone else does.

I see this sentiment a lot on this forum. "BMW is killing the M Brand" In what way? Is someone shopping M4s REALLY not going to buy one because the M440i exists? A non BMW guy probably doesn't know the M440i even exists.

M4s aren't worse because M440is exist. M440is are better because M4s exist, though.
