decision for a 2016 340i MT with coral red interior

I have been searching for a 2016/17 340i Manual transmission with coral red interior for a while now looks like they are very rare and tend to sell very quickly, often the dealer that have them are asking for a premium price, is it worth paying the premium for MT.
just trying to get some idea from the group on what price range I should be looking at for lets say less then 30k miles, also should I just settle for a AT, are prices tend to increase for MT as bmw are no longer making these.
Plus coming from the E46 world how have been the electric steering in F30.

Be prepared to pay premium for a MT 40i with any color interior, especially buying from BMW dealer. While you're still thinking about it someone is getting on a plane to go buy it.

Ridiculous assumption

For the most part the 2016 lease returns have all been turned in and the 2017 lease returns should really start to show up in the next 30-45 days.

There are only roughly 363 2016 MT 340i and over 2x that number of 2016 MT 340ix, so your odds will increase finding the color you want if you expand your search to include AWD.

However, Coral Red Interior is a hot color in the used market that makes those in demand, regardless of the 3/4 Series Model number or Transmission.

I paid a little premium for my MT35i. When I was looking ironically, the majority of the 40is with 6MT had a red interior. But don't throw cash for it. They'll come along for the right price.

Don't let the track time elitists who are shaving precious seconds off their lap times with their automatics bully you into thinking MT isn't worth anything. It is, and dealers know it so don't expect to cut too much of their premium listed prices down. I fought quite a bit with dealers and eventually just went private sale for mine

Many people do this... I flew out to east coast for mine. I plan on getting a '17+ 340i x 6MT and I'm sure I'll fly out to get that one, too.

It happened to me 3 weeks ago. It's happening. Autotrader is showing 15 used manual 340i's nationwide. Only 4 of those are certified and only 3 of those are M sports.

While I did not fly for mine, it was over 300 miles away.

To be clear, only 4 of the 16 on Autotrader are NOT MSports.

Nothing magical about CPO. Read the forum. Many are having issues with things CPO missed and then not covered.

Get a PPI from someone working for you. Better than what Dealers are missing on CPOs it appears.

And plenty of affordable EW that last longer than BMWs.

Considering there were only 363 2016 MT RWD, if you are one of the few that wants one, odds are you WILL have to get on a plane.

If you are willing to fly in to get a 6MT, Dealer knows you are one of the few that they can charge a Premium.

Otherwise, they will sell below book as otherwise they will just sit on lot.

And reason why so many 6MT have Coral Red is because Dealers do not order a 6MT to sit on the lot when new. The few Dealers that would order a MT for their lot will typically order a black interior.

Only an end buyer ordering a MT would order Coral Red.

Last person I knew who flew out to pick up a MT 3 series was the guy who flew from Arkansas to Southern California to buy my 1990 M3.

I flew to Jax, FL to buy one only to have it sold from under me. Flew to Charlotte NC for the one currently ticking itself cool in my garage.

The ZF8 is nothing like any auto I've driven before, its the first auto that has really made me question the point of MT. Switch it into manual and it changes faster than a manual box, upchanges sound brilliant (with MPPSK), you get more gears to play with, it uses less fuel, and if you're in city traffic you can just slide it into Auto and it looks after gearchanges for you.

I still enjoy driving my MT Aston Martin, but the only advantage of its brilliant MT gearbox is that downchanges sound fabulous with some old-fashioned double-declutching.

I had to go to Irvine (~3-4hr drive) to pick up my MT 340i. But I only had a few days to do my shopping since I really needed a car after my old 335i got the dreaded serpentine belt failure.

New one is also coral red and manual, I actually kinda wanted an automatic this time around but had to have the red interior and this was one of the only ones in CA at the time that didn't have black/grey exterior (which I'm not a fan of).

I tried to haggle the dealer down but wasn't very effective. Even walked away to go test drive a different car at another dealership but ended up coming back. Grabbed it for $30,200 and it had 40k miles. Manual is sweet, just confused by the auto rev-match feature.. don't see the point at all but I think there's a way code it out. I've just been lazy

OP, did you find a car? Another member here shared this with me about three months ago and it looks like it is still available, it’s a brand new ZHP - https://www.bmwofannarbor.com/new/BM...fa8698dff1.htm . He said he had negotiated it down to $49,900 before he decided to go with an ///M3. It is Alpine White over black, if you could live with that for a new car.

So very true. When I bought my 435, they wouldn't last long. A few days at most.

If you really want a MT, be flexible on colors and options. I looked for over a year for a MT exactly like I wanted and never found one anywhere in the country. I ended up compromising on color.

I would have in an instant. Of the cars I've purchased over the last 20 years, half have been out of the local area and required a flight or road trip to take delivery.

My MT RWD 435 in our local area was a unicorn. The next closest RWD MT BMW of ANY F30/F32 trim when I was shopping was at least 300+ miles away. Most of them were in Texas, California, Florida, and maybe one in the Atlanta area. No way around not taking a flght to pick it up.

I found the same thing when I bought my GTI new. Only one local VW dealership had a MT car. The next closest one was 500 miles away.

These days if you are buying used, I think you have to be prepared to travel in order to get the car you really want.

I wonder if that one was a sales managers demo or something. Interior pics look pretty dirty for a new car and it has a different shift knob. Someone will probably end up with a great deal on that if the dealer isn't stupid. RWD in Michigan as winter is approaching on a year old car will not be an easy sale.

There is no way a sales manager in Michigan would have ordered a 6mt (without even touching the RWD part) if he wanted to keep his job.
