Windows Rattling - 2017 340i

Hi All,

I hope this is the right forum here. I have a 2017 340i and as long as I can remember, there has been a slight rattling that seems to be coming from the windows when driving at low speeds. I mentioned this to the SA and he noted that it was probably caused by my tint. The thing is, I remember hearing it pre-tint and also my tint was done by a very reputable shop.

I was wondering if anyone else has dealt with this rattle (and even better if they've experienced it without tint). If so, did you find a solution to the problem? I would like to get rid of it ASAP as the times I am aware of it, its super annoying. Thanks in advance!

Tint can't cause rattling. Something loose inside the doors can.

Sometimes the infamous door creaking sounds like a faint rattle - have a search on here and you'll see dealers can fix it using a special 3M tape as it's quite a well known issue

I'm amazed that your SA suggested it was because of your tint. Ridiculous.

What he actually was saying:"We don't know what the problem is, and we don't want to take the time to find out, so we're going to blame it on something you did to the car".

just an fyi if that is your actual problem it's called a creak not a rattle

like another member mentioned they will apply a 3m tape/adhesive and it will be eliminated completely. just got mine done so if they act like they don't know or something i would either find a different sa or dealership altogether.

Thank for the tip! I'm taking it in tomorrow and the guy I spoke to on the phone said they typically do it for M3's so I'm hoping they won't give me much of a hassle.
