No Cobb AccessPort for our car? Alternatives?

Found out my 2012 335i ECU does not support the Cobb Access Port.

Why I loved the Cobb Access Port

1. Ease of installation, nothing left on the car after installation, no need to open the hood
2. Easy to change maps, read codes, and clear codes
3. Price
4. Simple to uninstall for dealer work (this is important)

Is there anything similar to the Cobb that is as flexible and robust. I just loved the design of a code reader and tuner without involving wires and a laptop.

Bootmod3 with wifi agent works pretty well. It takes some additional work to get it installed permanently, but it's pretty invisible.

What about MHD Tuning?

The MHD Tuning looks similar to Cobb. Not sure if it can read/reset codes though...

I'm very happy with MHD. It meets all your needs. It can definitely read and reset codes (and adaptations).

Bm3 has served me well. You can switch maps, edit maps, customize stuff like burble and cold start, clear and read codes, and view live gauges, all from your computer or even phone. All the maps I've installed have worked great and really makes it feel like a completely new car. I haven't tried mhd yet but the fact that you needed an android device kind of dissuaded me. I do have some experience with Cobb, however.

All you need to install is to plug a cord into your obdii and hit install, just like cobb.
You can also uninstall a map, revert back to stock, and relock the dme for dealer work in less than a minute.

MHD does everything you described and more. You can get the recently released WiFi adapter and no wires are necessary. It can read codes, including shadow codes, reset adaptations, unclock DME + flash, perform real time monitoring with gauges, data log, etc.

BM3 checks all the boxes as well, but IMO MHD edges out BM3 in terms of user friendliness and simplicity. You will get opinions on both sides as you have seen. Just do some research on both (there is a dedicated thread for each) and make your choice. I opted MHD for the user-friendliness aspect and i much preferred an android based platform so i could semi-permanently mount a samsung tab 8'' between the Apiller and gauge cluster for monitor/log/flash/etc in the car (similar to how you would a Cobb).

Bm3 does offers everything Cobb had to offer and more.
Instead of having to carry an access-port , you an use your phone to make changes

i was a previous Cobb owner and now run bm3 on my car.

I ran Cobb AP's on all 3 of my Evo's, so I fully get where you're coming from. I personally just invested in MHD's tuning solution. Their pricing model is piece-mealed so you only pay for what you want, the wifi adapter is super convenient, fast and reliable, the app is very easy to use and reflashing takes about 20 seconds.

I'm also a previous Cobb user on multiple vehicles including my 09 335. What I really enjoyed was the ability to use their ATR function to modify for instance load targets on BMW or boost control on Subaru ( or timing or fuel or variable valve control on either ).
i'm now using MHD on my 235, with BM3, can I modify an existing OTS map> or do I have to start from a base map???
If I can modify an OTS map I was unaware of that and it would be a game changer further differentiating more clearly MHD / BM3...……

BM3 will allow you to alter the base map, I don't think they want anyone to know what's in the secret sauce, lol. one thing I love about MHD is auto logging, on my way home from work I can easily do a few pulls without having to start/stop a log, unless I want to. It might just be me and kinda new to reading logs, but the datazap format seems easier than what bm3 uses, unless they can be converted it doesn't matter.

That's what I thought, Cobb gave us access to their maps which was cool because it allowed some learning on the user end, it would be nice but I understand.
