Hy, I am wondering if it is possible to exchange the basic Xenon headlights with adaptive headlights. Will it be plug n play? Is the pinout the same?

Just done this myself you need:

New headlights (£900 each)
New driver control modules (£315 each)

The rest can be transferred over from your old xenon's
You have to take the bumper off to fit them and make sure you take the wheels off, i didnt and it made it so difficult the access is terrible

You then need to code the VO and add 524 for adaptive headlights otherwise the turning and self levelling won't work. Its pretty involved but i think its worth it as they are so much better at lighting the road than standard xenon, i don't think the beam pattern on the standard ones is very good

No Wiring is the same as regular xenon

is this really worth the trouble and money? i have adaptives and don't really think they're all that but I dunno?? maybe I'm missing something

Yes, the standard xenon's beam is not very good and in europe the adaptive are coded differently so we have no glare high beam assist and the light beam changes with speed. They are very good

So we have to change the current headlight and buy another one? Won't it be better to go the LED headlight route?

LED needs additional wiring and even more added expense and many people have said they aren't impressed with the light output, i have seen both and think xenon is a better light quality

So you had to replace headlights?what is the difference between normal xenon, and adaptive xenon headlights?

Adaptive xenons swivel in the corners and the beam constantly adjusts dependant on your speed. The light output is much better and wider

i meant physical difference between the ''normal'' xenon headlight and adaptive xenon headlight,do they have some electrical motor or different lens...
on real oem are different codes for these headlights and the prices are different as well,with the adaptive one being more expensive.
i think i will drop this conversion,new headlights and new control modules are all together too expensive,if only new control modules and coding were needed it was ok

The adaptives are heavier, have an additional motor inside for swivelling and different internals although they look identical on the outside and have the same part number on the top

That and the new LCI projectors look quite ugly (IMHO). I saw one for the first time on the road and the pre-LCI LED sidelights (angel eyes) look much nicer.

Sorry to revive an old thread - do you happen to have the part number or any reference to the driver control modules? thanks
