Agree, Tri clean all the way, I have used the Gtechniq leather guard too but find the little bottles it comes in are absolutely crap. The pump heads always block. I've since gone to Gyeon for the leather guard.

Cheers for the heads up guys. Never had a problem previously, but defo not worth the risk going forward 👍

I've just cleaned my wheel, used Autoglym leather cleaner and a colourlock bristle brush, came up a treat.

Bad for the 'leather' though, it's abrasive. You'll eventually take the coating off, it used to be used for insulation way back when. Only know this after speaking to an interior upholster and asking advice on cleaning an M2 steering wheel trim. Obviously conversation lead onto the leather in general.

The leather on BMW steering wheels certainly the F3x variants seems to be super delicate from what I've read. I use a certain brand of leather wipes and have used them on lots of cars over time without issue, look to have stripped a section on mine. I'm confident it's not the product or technique so I put it down to the leather itself.
