advice on buying pair of front rotors for 2015 435i m
hi guys, I need to change our my 2 front rotors on my 2015 435i Msport coupe. the squeeling is very annoying even though brake performance is still great.
I recently changed out to new brake pads just last year. the brake pads I bought were: "Hawk street 5.0 pads" but even after that my brakes would have an embarrassing squeel that will kill your ears If windows are open. so basically I'm requesting advice on what would be good branded rotors to get for my front 2 wheels? the back 2 are good and just need to change out brake pads in about 800miles. appreciate any advice on this !! |

I did Zimmerman rotors on my 2008 which worked great.
My 340 had BRUTAL squeal with the OEM (within the first 1000 miles) even. When I pulled the pads off and swapped for EBC red stuff, I found that the OEM didn't have any lube on the slides where the pads move back and forth. The EBC came with a couple tubes of copper lube. I've been running those now for 35k miles, and not a peep from them. |

I suggest Zimmermann 2 piece rotors, also known as Formula F Coat Z rotors.
What size are your front rotors: 370x30mm? |

Brake squeal is almost always caused by improper/inadequate lubrication of the brake pad/caliper metal to metal contact points. It's almost never caused by the rotors.

I second what Billfitz said. These brakes are not supposed to squeak. The brake paste is designed to be part of the brake system to prevent that. If the brakes make any noise it's either the paste was improperly applied or it was worn off. The most common culprit for that is blasting the wheels with a power washer and blasting away the brake paste at the same time.
