Make N55 Exhaust Louder

I have a F30 with a N55 engine. I put a valvetronic axle-back valved exhaust on the car which created the sound I wanted but it is still quieter than I want.

To increase the volume, I am thinking about either adding a catless downpipe or doing a resonator delete but I am curious to hear other people's experience and if there are any other solutions before doing so.

*I am looking for a loud burbled exhaust sound*

Well what's the goal with car?
Catless would yield performance gains and likely nail the sound you want, it would suck to delete resonator, get the sound you want, to later go catless for performance and it becomes too loud.

The Valvetronic exhaust is garbage. I had that with a catless downpipe & resonator delete and I took it off the car after a week. My armytrix exhaust was much louder. Since then I have gone to a VRSF and SSS2 midpipe. The car is sinister loud now.

catless and remove resonator otherwise it's still going to be quieter than you want and even then it may not be loud enough if you want loud.

If you want loud inside and out: Catless + muffler delete. Can't get any louder than that.

If you want noticibly louder INSIDE the cabin, but not obnoxiously loud outside the car: any catted downpipe + almost any muffled axleback. The Loudest of the axlebacks is the AWE track. Then everything else is subjective.

I am running a Remus valved axleback and a circuitwerks catted downpipe. It is perfect imo. Even got some comments about how good it sounds from folks who I would not consider "car people" in any sense of the word. Interpret that how you will.

Adding a downpipe will improve the sound for sure. Catless is louder and raspier, catted has a deeper mid-range tone.

In my opinion, catted is the better option, but either one will do the Job

catted + REMUS is the best sounding exhaust
Catted + Active is a close second

I love the catless downpipe setup with stock rear exhaust. It's just the right amount of aggression, loudness and tone Imo. If you decide to go catless we have a really nice option for your vehicle.

Shoot us a pm if you have any questions.

MPE with resonator delete, the a few seconds later the aftermarket valve opens which bypasses the MPE backbox. This used to be my favourite overall tone, it was loud deep and not overly raspy.

I needed performance gains though so went catless. I then had the MPE modified so that I could the aftermarket valve behind the resonator and a second pipe straight into the tailpipes, that way I can have MPE + catless downpipes as a quite mode, then when I open the aftermarket valve it goes full hell turbo back straight pipe.

The full straight pipe version (current setup) reminds me a lot of an equal lengths F80/F82 sound.

from a physics standpoint that exhaust setup is disruptive and terrible.

interesting though.

Hardly - when the valve is shut the exhaust setup works just like the OEM N55 MPE would. When the valve is open it reduces a lot more back pressure and runs exactly like the OEM B58 MPE is setup.

I built the system with a race exhaust engineer, I had just one rule being zero disruption to existing power.
