Best way to inspect turbo?
Hey folks
I've removed my air intake system because I want to flush my coolant on my 2013 328i. It's a rare look at my turbo, and it has been making a slight whine. Whine was confirmed by both BMW dealer and independent shop as coming from the turbo. What can I do to verify any possible problems? Are there any checks that I can do?

Try to move turbine shaft to see if there's an excessive play in shaft bearings. Search youtube for guidance

Turbine shaft for play
Stick your finger in there see if oil is pooling.(be sure no one is going to turn on the engine while doing it) Check outside the housing for leaks. |
