Just confirmed RaspberryPi 4 B works with the instructions at the start of this thread, however the only thing I had to do was ssh into the pi and ran raspi-config to setup WiFi and confirm the country, setup WiFi network to bootmod3 and password for bootmod3, exit raspi-config, reboot and it works.
For some reason the script that setup the WiFi doesn't work out of the box with v4 B. |

Yes it works with the rp4. Just save an sd with bootmod3 on it so you can use the rp4 with you car when we you need to flash a new map and use it for whatever else you want to use it the rest of the time.

Nevermind, I found what I was looking for!
SSH button, it's a simple app that establish an ssh connection and sends a command to the host, perfect for connecting to the rpi and sending a shutdown command before unplugging the power cord, by pushing 1 button only ;-) |

Just wanted to say that this worked fine for me using a new Pi 4 so thanks!
I have self created an issue by making it connect to my home wifi SSID. the OBD agent will not update when connected to any other SSID except the bootmod3 one. I am going to create another SSID on my router that is called bootmod3 so that i wont have to use tethering on my phone. Also, an easy way to configure the network settings while connected to the pi using SSH is the command "raspi-config" As is though, it connects to my car, and works properly when routed through my home network.

The script work for Pi 4b. I run "sudo raspi-config" to change the wifi ssid and password to my handphone hotspot ssid. Also install SSH Remote app on IOS that can custom one click shutdown of RPi.

Hi, I am unable to get my bm3 app to find my rpi3 b+. I am able to get the rpi to connect to my hotspot as the ssh app work in terms of shutting it down while my hotspot is running and the device is connected. Not sure what else I can try before I have to find a rpi 3.

Can your bm3 app find the agent when RPi is connected to your router thru LAN cable? When I do the installation, with RPi connected to my router thru LAN and iPhone X connected to home WIFI, BM3 can connect to the agent.

Hello All. I am thinking about dropping my JB+ to go BootMod3. Looking at costs here and there.
I want to purchase an Rpi4 for the wifi agent. Does the 2gb vs 4gb matter. Since I'm mainly using it to just run BootMod3 only. Thanks in advance. |

Ok so, I saw in here that a few guys got this working with a pi 4 so I decided to give it a shot. Had some initial trouble even getting it to display to a TV so I could run raspi-config. Ended up as follows.
Flash lite onto card. Hook up to TV/keyboard. Run raspi config. Set up country etc. Initially I set it to my home wifi and broke it. Reflashed the card again. Set it up with my mobile hotspot SSID. Ran script. Completes, connects to my phones hotspot. All good . But it won't do anything. The app doesn't detect the client. (Using Android, S9+). Tried it in the car too with everything connected. Nada. It responds to SSH button commands from the phone. I can shut it down or reboot it etc. I tried having it log in automatically as well, still nothing. I'm at a total loss at this point. Any ideas? ETA: How can I tell the client is running on the raspberry pi? It connects to my phones hotspot. It receives internet. But it doesn't connect to the BM3 app to show the client is available. Can you rerun raspi config and set your wifi again? I believe the script will change the wifi connection to the default SSID bootmod3 and password bootmod3. If your handphone hotspot SSID and password is different, you need to SSH in to your RPi and set it again.

Did the installer script complete successfully?
EDIT: I think I found the issue. I'll post a fix soon. Last edited by dieselg5; 05-13-2020 at 02:38 PM.. |

I've set it up. Picked a country. Set the wifi to my phones hotspot. (With a keyboard and it plugged into my TV). It connects to my phone (which is named bootmod3). It will run the script. I've tried setting it to auto login. It will connect to my phones hotspot. But the Bootmod3 app doesn't see it. I tried uninstalling the app (on my phone) and reinstalling it. I'm using Android. Idk if that matters. S9+. |
