What to pay for mpe and mppk 2016 435xi

Hi everyone, i have a 2016 435xi that i bought recently with a warranty for two years. The dealership is working up some numbers on the mpe and mppk and i was wondering what everyone thinks is fair hours for labor and a fair price to pay for the parts. Thank you, you guys have been great in helping me learn about my car! PS i know other mods are cheaper but i dont need to go crazy and I’m still in warranty

There is no such thing as a fair price when talking about the dealer quoting you parts/labor LOL!!

From what i've seen others mention about MPPK and MPE from the dealer i'd say pricing for parts will be:

MPPK - $1500
MPE - $1000

not sure about the labor but im certain they will charge you WAY more than an indy shop.

I installed my MPE and it took not even an hour. I did ask my dealer about install and they quoted 3hrs LMAO

The MPPK is just a flash tune with upgraded intake and a badge on the engine cover soooo...... they will probably charge you 1-2hrs

Isn't the MPPK identical to the BM3 Stage 0+ (M2) tune? If so, it's a free map, so it'd basically cost $595.

Old thread i know but just thought id share my pricing experience with the MPE parts and labor.

I bought it through the BMW website for $1235(may have been more or less but between 1200-1300)
When I went to the dealer to get it installed they told me I ordered the MPE for the 440i (error on websites part i put in f32 15 x drive in the search criteria) and that the correct muffler, chrome tips and installation would be $2300..

got a refund from bmw right away and bought it on ECS for $1050, bought the tips for $175, had an indy install it for $120. almost a thousand dollars less than what the stealership quoted

I just purchased a MPE for $1060. Don't pay for BMW to install because they will probably really rip you. Cost me $80 at my local muffler shop. Also, if you are looking for an aggressive sound, don't buy the MPE (unless you're going to add a down pipe). If you want a verrry slight difference and a bmw product then buy the MPE.

If anyone is on the fence on either the MPPK, MPE or may be both due to pricing... now may be a good time. All Autonation BMW dealerships are running a 25% off any service until 5/17 (both parts & labor). I was able to get a local 'non Autonation' dealership to match the offer on an MPPK. Just had it installed on my car today for $1600 tax included. The discount came out close to $500. They also found a small valve cover gasket leak, which was replaced under warranty.

My CPO is all he way until end of 2023... so MPPK was the only flash tune that made sense. I may stack a JB+ on top of it down the road, if the itch for more power is still there.

Sounds like $1600 down the drain lol

You could have spent less to go FBO plus a flash tune with the current sales available online. After install you would have been right under $2000 with a significant increase in power compared to MPPK.

EDIT:

What year, make and model is your car??

Yeah i was going to say this as well but didnt want to be mean or derail the thread. I too was concerned about flashing/modding under CPO but then someone said something that clicked with me which i will summarize here:

Mod/tune while in warranty --> Everything not related to drivetrain should be covered. If a drivetrain issue, you still have a chance of getting it covered.

Mod/tune OUT of warranty --> No chance of getting anything covered.

I would also add -
As long as you believe the mod/tune is safe, there's no reason not to just do it under warranty, since it shouldn't cause any issues. And if you DONT believe the mod/tune is safe, then why would you do it at all lol?

FWIW i have made 3-4 warranty claims while FBO+tuned and had zero issues. None of them were related to powertrain/drivetrain, however.

Guys, I simply stated the current deal, in case someone is interested in OEM BMW performance products.

These pros and cons discussions have been done to death, but one thing that keeps escaping a lot of you is that different people have different usage and goals for their cars. My N54 "full bolt on" days are over and yes I did have a lot of fun. Now I want a great running car with OEM+ performance. Yes the power bump is only ~10%, however that is enough for the family hauler. The GT was never meant to be a racecar anyway.

And yes the warranty...you do understand that not all dealers have the same approach toward handling them. I sure don't want to be the one to end up with a powertrain issue and they tell me it was due to my aftermarket tunes/mods... no matter how small the correlation may be. Even if anything breaks due to my spirited driving now, I will rest assured knowing that BMW will fix it with no questions asked.

2016 335i Gran Turismo. When I mentioned N54, I was referring to my 2009 E90 335i. Besides these, my other BMWs have been naturally aspirated (non turbo).

You added the MPPK to your 2016 335i GT and its CPO ends in 2023???

my factory warranty ends in Nov 2020, then CPO kicks in for a year. In addition BMW offers something called "CPO Wrap" coverage where you can extend it for 2 more years w/ unlimited mileage. That's how I got it until 2023. It's fully transferable for a private sale and if I ever trade in my car, they'll refund the cost for the remainder of the coverage.
