There is no incentive to buy something that is extremely expensive that looks worse that the car you already have.

Lock the car and walk away, if you don't turn around and look at it no point in having it, time to sell. Only time I would turn around if I had the new 5er is to make sure no one saw me get out of it.

Depends on discounting.

I wasn't shy with the options on my G31 530d back in 2018. The list price was about £63k, but we only paid £48k.
