High Performance Cabin Air Filter Intake
Since we're all suckers for flushing money down the toilet, hence BMW owners, I think I have my money maker - the high performance cabin air filter intake system. Logic is around intake systems. Even though it's been proven over and over here that intakes are worth 0 in terms of performance, I still can't resist spending $500 on my used 320i to have one, because I know it will be different for me (not at all). So, why not come up with a similar snake oil for cabin air filtration efficiency?

intakes aren't bought just for performance, people buy them for aesthetic reasons and for sound. just came back from a nice drive with windows down, actually being able to hear the induction noise from your turbo, the loud wooshing noise, the added growl from the throttle pedal... pure snake oil i tell you.

Waaaiiiit.... title of thread... performance cabin air filter? For what, so your a/c blows cooler air?😄😄 less stress on a/c compressor?😄
Yeah, cold air intake systems could perform better, but i have driven small suzuki vitara turbo, and after putting k&n panel, i lost 10-15 kmh top speed. I don't know what will happen to stronger or diesel engine.... Mid acceleration was 🤷‍♂️, not great not terrible, but i got more fuel range in normal driving. No sound change with panel. I think it is only placebo effect, and less money throwing on regular maintenance of car, one part less to exchange, as you can wash it and reuse it. But be careful with oil, not to mess maf sensor after a while... |

Was going to respond with more technical details to your statement about placebo effect, but this topic has been discussed for several decades now and it is not a placebo effect. It all depends what you use as your "butt" dyno... certainly should not be Suzuki Vitara... I've had Suzuki SX4 with 2.0 petrol engine for 11 years and I know what I'm talking about. It performed poorly with aftermarket intake from a very reputable 3d party manufacturer. The car is very reliable, but it ain't a sports car.
