Trust me I've completely removed the flash and re-flashed at least 5 times due to taking the car into the dealership for warranty claims (non-tune related).

Also, i never used any battery chargers, although i will recommend it if your car is higher mileage. My 435i is only 4 years old so the battery is pretty fresh!!!

Just installed DP, CP and FMIC!! WOW the car is a BEAST with the Stage 2+ flash on 93oct!!!!! Very eager to throw in 2-3 gallons of E85 but worried to max/crap out the HPFP!! Hoping MHD releases a similar option as they did with the N54 tunes to measure octane!!!

Takes the same amount of time when completely removing and flashing, maybe your cable is faulty

I use a Samsung Note 4 to flash

If your using the Bimmergeek cable like i do, make sure the toggle is all the way to the right, aside from that im really not sure why its taking so long to do the initial flash for you, BUT so long as it works

Bimmercable?

Mine took 44 mins via the cable I have (BMCables.com) - works perfectly, just takes that long.

I have seen people on the WhatsApp group encounter issues when flashing w/o charger. Better safe than sorry.

Bought the Bimmer Geeks cable when I bought the flash tune.
I was skeptical that the cable would make that much of a difference; but maybe it does.

This is the cable we are speaking about. MHD has said in the beginning that other Dcan cables will result in slower flashing, might have to search back in this thread for the information.

Went to flash...bought a new battery charger and followed the PDF manual..shut everything off, sat in car etc. Phone said "waiting for last process to finish"...so, I waited and waited hoping I would be the lucky guy and it would be 22 min. Then, kept waiting and figured I would be another 44 min guy. Then, when that point passed, I thought probably something is not right.

Right when I hit flash got dongs and bunch of errors. Figured that was normal. Once I hit an hour, I knew something was wrong. Checked the battery charger and it was showing less than 25% and it was off on an overheat error.

Thought, fuck, this is probably going to be an expensive tune. Car would not start, yet there was power, however trunk would not open. Left charger on but battery would not charge over 40%. So, at 40% I went for flash to OEM option. Got a bar showing time left and it did flash that. Car started up.

A few months ago I had checked codes with ISTA and one was battery is worn replace soon. Car cranks immediately and I have a voltage meter hooked up in the trunk as well as the battery is 5 1/2 years old. This is why I went and bought a decent charger today before going for the flash.
I'm thinking there is some kind of defect in the battery that cut the charger and voltage dropped too low not allowing the flash to really even start.

I am going to get a new battery tomorrow as I am due anyway. Had some codes when I started and cleared with JB4, but then driving got a DT malfunction--which I am thinking is due to battery issues.

So, fun times.

Do you still have the JB4 installed while flashing?

Not sure but you might have to remove that first....need someone to chime in with more insight regarding JB4

Yes. I set it to map 0 and unplugged the OBD connection. My plan was to flash and then drive it to see how ran. When you do a back-end flash the Jb4 is connected.

Once flashed the issue would be the JB4 would control boost, so my plan was to remove that tomorrow. My thinking is, is that for today I would have had MHD controlling timing and tranny with burbles and JB4 running boost. O don't think that is the issue because the phone appeared to lock up almost instantly. I never got to a progression bar and my battery was pretty low during the process.

I bought the Burger Motor Sport one off of Amazon Prime $27 (really wasn't the money but next day delivery is oh so tempting)... well we'll find out about difference of cables since I just purchased BimmerGeek...

p.s. when I first hooked up my charger... it said 65% ... normal good battery is 75% .... the battery is original so will be 4 years old December...typical battery life is 3-4years... just gonna get a new one...

Me too. Too many people testifying otherwise though.

I was familiar with the cable, just that I already had the other cable that worked fine (just takes twice as long). However, I have been convinced! Bimmergeeks cable ordered this morning.

Replaced my battery this morning and also was able to flash MHD...took a couple tries. I hooked up my new battery charger just because I had it and the first time I went to flash I got an error. Seems like the charger went off as the battery was charged and that caused the flash to fail. So, once again had to flash back to stock which took 26 minutes.

The flash to stage 2, 91 took 3 minutes. Then I realized that the burble setting had to be changed before the flash. So, set those tabs up and flashed again. I left the JB4 on, map 1 and took it for a quick drive. Car ran fast. But the burbles with my DP were shockingly loud--so, I had to turn those down and re-flash.

I also did a drive with the JB4 on map 0 (disabled) and I am not sure, but it seemed to run a little more aggressive with the JB4 on. I did purchase the log monitor so I will have to check that out later.

One thing I notice is that the car idles slightly rougher for the first 10 seconds on startup.

Did you try enabling the cold start delete? With that, the idle are smooth as butter.

Does anyone experience ruff cold start ups ? Car starts fine, but almost sounds like its misfiring on cold start up.
