Another is it totaled thread

I'm assuming it is based on other similar threads with less damage on newer cars being totaled. The car is 2015 335i Xdrive fully loaded. M sport tech package etc. 25,XXX miles. We purchased it less than two months ago certified pre-owned. She was stopped at a red light behind a Ford Mustang when a sleeping driver rear ended her at 50 MPH pushing her into the Mustang. She is okay which is my only concern. Surprisingly there wasn't any airbag deployment.

It’s an Oyster white leather interior with black headliner too. Definitely not going to be easy to find another one in as good of condition.

Wow, the fiesta hitting the other car at 50 mph and this car being rear ended at 50mph again. As much as I hate to see people getting hit like this, it's reassuring to see how well protected the driver and passengers would be in the case of an accident like this.

This looks totaled.

Glad you're okay. Now you can upgrade to the 340, you'll like the upgrade. CPO 340s are going for low to mid 30's with similar mileage. (Though xDrive is a little more expensive). This is totaled and you probably don't want them to fix it. Amazing the safety built in to these cars, seen several others as your posts indicates and everyone walked away without a scratch.

You don’t want that fixed anyways. Look at that passenger door fitment. Glad everyone was okay, these cars are surprisingly solid.

Happy to hear your lady is OK, car's can be replaced (this one will be) but people, not so easy. The bright side is you'll love a 340!

Is there a big difference in performance between the 335 and 340?

There's a noticeable difference especially in sport plus. You'll have to test drive one to see the difference but most people who have driven both will say yes.

I wonder is the front passenger door could open straight away after the accident? It seems to be pushed from both the rear door and the front quarter panel.

Power curve on the 340i is much smoother and less drop off. 340i is like 335i with mppk. 340i with the mppsk is on another level

hopefully it's totalled so you can do the 340i (or the 440i GC ), I wouldn't accept repairs on something so obviously wrecked!

Let us know what the claims adjuster tells you, I doubt they'll bother with repair and will total it so they can sell it at auction for dirt cheap and someone else will fix it and sell as salvage title.

No insurance company in their right mind would NOT consider this totaled... I don't see how some of you are saying it's "close" to totaled...

Glad there were no injuries.

I would hope it's totaled. Even if it's not, I wouldn't drive it. It will never be the same

Glad everyone is OK, first of all.

I had both, a 2015 335ix and now a 2017 340ix. The 335i (N55) had much more turbo lag and the power is higher up in the rev range. The 340i (B58) has much less turbo lag and the power comes on much sooner and feels like it's endless. The 340i has more torque down low and is better suited for city driving, IMHO and from my personal experience.

Additionally, the 340i comes matched with an updated ZF automatic transmission that is beefier to handle the additional power and has a wider gear ratio spread for slightly better fuel economy.

I definitely recommend you drive one at your dealer to feel the improvements that were made.

Glad you guys are ok! Hopefully they will total it and not b/c it “won’t be the same BS” but because the structural integrity of the car may be damaged, and you have no idea how it may perform (god forbid) in another accident that may be worse. I know my car has almost 19k in damages done to it just by someone hitting it in a parking lot.
