I have a B75 postcode (sutton coldfield)

My premium jumped from £500 odd for my stage 2 mapped TT to £800 for my 435d.

Try going through your home insurance provider for a discount... or something aviva drive app ( clock up 200 miles on a motorway to get a good score)

Finally go through quidco/ topcashback... got £50 cashback on top that way.

Thing is even if i got insured on a crappy mondeo or something its still like £1700 for insurance so the thinking was pay a bit more to at least be somewhat happy when driving... the joys of living in birmingham

£1700 to insure a Mondeo I take it back - £2,250 to insure a 330d sounds good value!

I haven't been to Birmingham for some time but that's crazy money. Is there a civil war going on?

With online comparison sites I find if you add your driving license number it reduces the premium. I guess because it can then verify info at DVLA

Streuth - sad if so. How does locking in garage influence?

Having it down as garage parked will prob make the premium go up.

Insurance logoc being damage claims would be items falling from shelves/ damage caused getting it in to the garage!!

Must admit I'm shocked how much it has gone up by, essentially roughly £100 more despite gaining another 1 years no claims from 9 to 10 years all other parameters the same.

I think they need to change the system as normal abiding people are paying for others taking the piss and bogus claims.

Hi Guys,

Just thought id give you an update.

After much checking various comparison sites and independent sites. thought id let you know the 2 best quotes. Aviva gave me a quote for £2081 which i thought was quite good but with protected ncbs it was about £2331. I was yay close to actually taking out that policy when i thought id check confused.com as that was the only site i hadn't checked at that point. low and behold i got a quote with Hastings for £2140 with protected NCB.

Hopefully next renewal will be better as i will be 25 and will have 5 years ncb fingers crossed.

Just wanted to say thanks again for everyone who replied its much appreciated

With aviva you can do the drive app challenge and get a 28% discount, a SUBSTANTIAL saving when your insurance is 2k.

Also note that existing customers get 20% discount, so you could get a home insurance policy with them, shouldn't be overly expensive, and get another 20% on top of the 28% for the drive app.

An exhumation of your own 5 year old thread, good work

20K over 9 years just in insurance, I assume? That is pretty steep tbf.
