Cr@p Dealer Stock?

I went into Cooper Norwich this afternoon to have a snout around and see what car's they've got in as I'm in the process of deciding on my next one, but they barely had anything in!

There's three empty spaces in the showroom, no cars out front and most of the cars in the showroom are 3 or 4 series, plus a 5, 7 & X3 that were in there last time I was in a month ago!

I'm thinking maybe this is a WLTP thing, are other dealerships like this currently?

Won't you wait to see what the G20 specs and prices look like before making a change or are you fancying something bigger than a 3-series next time round?

To answer your question, I was in Stratstone Harrogate last week and the stock in their showroom looked fairly normal (albeit the showroom isn't very big compared to some dealerships so there aren't many in there at the best of times!). However, highlights included a nice M4 CS in San Marino Blue, a 540i Saloon and a couple of M140i's.

Yea I'll definitely see what the 3 series is like, but I'll still tempted by the 5 Series and X3. Nice to go in there and see different colours, options, interiors etc. and also would really like to see an X3 M40i/d in the flesh.

Maybe sales have been great in the run up to 1/9?

Decent stock up here at my local and it was due too that I snapped one up!

Garage List
M4 CS at Chandlers Portslade a couple of weeks ago. Was grey though so didn't look too special.

Yea there's been one in Cooper Norwich for ages, obviously can't sell it unsurprisingly!

Have to say that, despite the car having black leather and no sunroof, the 540i cabin was still a very pleasant place to sit; the feel and quality certainly seemed a step-up from my F31 so if the G20 is similar but smaller it should be very nice!

The 5 interior is really lovely, and is what keeps tempting me to get one, and I'm not even that worried about the driving dynamics as I probably spend more than 99% of my driving just wafting around, it's just the size for parking and manoeuvring that bothers me.

Unfortunately from what we've seen of the G20 interior it's not going to be as nice.

This with knobs on

We had a 520d demo (no laughing at the back) and the usually car hating missus thought it the best thing ever. She did have a point, compared to my F31 is was well posh and in all seriousness much better screwed together with a premium feel to it.

Its one reason Im having a sabbatical, the other is shit run out deals on 340i's........ Last years were thousands better over 4y PCP, is anyone buying one at the moment????

All BMW's on sale will meet WLTP from Saturday. Stock is general is very light over the UK at the moment. Not that it effects many on here, but the 18i/20i engine is really struggling to keep up with the order take. Some models now going into next year for delivery!!!

Adaptive drive stops the wafting about, it really is quite impressive. Surround view with all the sensors and the collision warning and braking makes parking and manoeuvring easier than you think.

You obviously don’t know much about Norwich! The UEA is the 14th highest ranking university in the country (quite an achievement for a city with less than 250k urban population), Norwich is a Unesco city of literature (one of only 10 in the world), there are a huge amount of historical features in Norwich, it was the second largest settlement in the country until the industrial revolution, etc. etc.

So yes, not much culture at all in Norwich!

Chompers do you know what will happen with 40i engine power outputs being reduced is this long term, and the disappearance of M Perf and such exhausts? Is it possible for these to make a comeback?

40i engines seem ok order wise at the moment for 3/4/5 series, as you may know M140i/240i can only be ordered in 8AT form. G20 M340i should open up the power again. New M140i due next year won't be 6cyl

G01 X3 M40i had the power turned down for WLTP.

As for MP Exhausts, this was a European decision

Apperciate the time to answer that cheers. Cotswold have 4 x MPE left for M3/4 and I'm on the fence....but OEM option might never be there again. Hmmmmm.

I'll be honest a say that IMHO the std M3/4 CP Exhaust is fine. I don't see or for that matter 'hear' the need for the MPE. As with and mod, you always say the upgrade is better because you have spent money on it. But is it?

1 Month to go?
