Koni Yellows and Dinan springs
Today I had Dinan springs and Koni yellows installed on my 2016 BMW 340i. This process has been in the making for almost 3 months...lol I finally was able to locate some koni yellows on the internet. I also added BMS 12 mm spacers to the front and rear. Since my installer is about an hour from me, I was able to review the ride on my way home. INCREDIBLE!!!!. wow. the ride is a lot smoother than stock. I will let the springs settle for a few more weeks before I get an alignment. I also purchased the Dinan bumpstops, but my installer stated I did not need them, as he reused the OEM bumpstops. My car only has 9k miles on it

Nice combo!
I had Koni Yellows on my previous car and loved them! Looking forward to seeing the pics after springs settled a bit

The springs probably don't need to settle. Quality springs (like my Eibach's) settle very little. The TUV testing documentation for my springs showed that over 500,000 cycles they only settled 0.5mm.
I've read that what's actually "settling" are the positions of your bushings since the ride height is now different, and thus so is the loading on them. I've read that the bushings should actually be reset (loosened and then tightened under load) so that they have the correct pre-load and don't get overloaded. |

How does the lowered suspension (Dinan + Koni Yellow shocks/struts) handle small, repetitive impacts like those seen on less than smooth pavement?
I ask because I recently removed the Dinan springs on my RWD 340 and put the stock springs back on. Dinan shockwave adaptive damper reprogramming is also installed and will stay. The reprogrammed stock adaptive shocks just could not react effectively (quickly enough) for these small impacts resulting in a jarring ride when working with Dinan springs. With the softer stock sport suspension springs, the situation is much better with more wheels movement. The stock adaptive shocks were/are fantastic over large/slower changes like speed bumps. |

On my way home from the suspension shop, I had a 50 mile drive on the expressway. 35 miles of which was under construction, where I had to drive over uneven lanes and unpaved areas. it felt a lot smoother than my stock setup. I was really surprised of how planted the car felt, and how it handled the small bumps/imperfections with the expressway. I did a lot research on the forum, before making my purchase. I was definitely looking for a combination that offered a small drop, while maintaining good level of comfort, as this is my DD vehicle. I also noticed how Dinan now sell these struts/shocks on their website, but their pricing for them is ridiculous. I noticed a lot of folks on the forum raved about how smooth these koni dampers are.

Thanks. I appreciate it. I also wanted to share with all the Chicagoland folks that I went to R&M Performance Auto Care in Palatine, IL for the install. For the labor they charged me $400. Ask for REI.

It is nice to hear that it works well for you VP_56.
Dinan lists the Koni yellows for the xDrive models but not the RWD models that I can see. xdrive: https://www.dinancars.com/products/?...bodytype=Sedan RWD: https://www.dinancars.com/products/?...bodytype=Sedan Both ECS and Bimmerworld show them for RWD https://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-F30-34...rand/J-L/Koni/ |

I didn't realize they only listed it for xdrive vehicles. Thanks for pointing it out about Xdrive vehicles. My mouth just dropped from seeing the price, and I quickly looked elsewhere. I purchased the front struts from ECS https://www.ecstuning.com/b-koni-par...1-1582sportkt/ And the rear shocks I came across on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I've been running the same setup for about 9 months now. It works well, though I've had the front suspension bottom out a few times over crappy expansions joints - sounds/feels pretty wretched when it happens. Ride is very good, I have my konis set up about maybe 1/2 turn from full soft.

I think it has to do with the Koni yellows being shorter than the stock OEM struts/shocks.

Hey VP_56,
This week I'm having my Eibach springs removed, and am going with Dinan springs and bump stops, with Koni Sport yellow dampers. My car is a '17 340xi (MPPSK, MPBBK), standard Xdrive suspension (besides Eibachs) Based on everything I've read, I'm leaning on a 50% front and 50% rear setting for the Koni. The fronts seem easily adjustable, but I'd have to take the car back to the shop for the rear adjustment, so I want to get the rear adjustment right the first time. What front/rear settings did you use for the Koni dampers? How is the ride? |

Harperium, Since I didn't have any plans of ever tracking the car, I had the shop install them with softest setting. The ride is perfect IMO, and not harsh. Still much sportier than stock in rebounding from curves. Initially, all I really cared about was removing the wheel gap, but I have learned to really appreciate the ride on the Koni Sports. Since this is my DD vehicle, and I have a 40 min drive each way to work, most times in pot hole traffic. The comfort level is really high on my list.

How firm does the ride feel in general compared to stock? I assume you can adjust the fronts with knobs under the hood, right? But the rear would be inaccessible? |

OK, thanks for the info
My installation is set for Friday. Will write up a review this weekend. I emailed Dinan to ask if they had recommended Koni settings for Dinan springs with my car ('17 340xi), and they said "Front: 1.5 turns from full soft. Rear: 0.25 turns from full hard". So, pretty stiff. I will start from there and see, as I am kind of looking for a stiffer setup. |
