As an FYI, I have a 2016 F32 and album art does stream over Bluetooth. I do have the technology/navigation package as well...but NOT the enhanced Bluetooth option.

My understanding is tech package and navigation are the same, except tech package includes the HUD. So they must have just fixed this through a software update, or the 2016's have different standard software.

it has to be the tech/nav. stupid how that is. if anyone else has a 16 or lower my without nav and can get album art over bt please comment.

I'll be picking up my 2016 340i later this week (hopefully!) and will chime in. Does not have nav or tech packages.

I'm pretty sure you need to have nav/tech package for any sort of BT streaming, so I'm not sure how relative this will be to his question.

Negative. I believe they changed that +MY2015. Bluetooth Audio is listed as a standard feature on the 340i (not sure about lower models).

i have a 2016 and i have bt streaming. i don't have album art over bt. i have album art over usb. i don't have nav/tech package or ebt(i do now thanks to coding).

You still don't have album art once enabling EBT? I thought that would definitely do it.

same but unfortunately no. i still believe there is something wrong. i should have album art stream over bt. i've tried everything, but still no luck so that's why i want others to chime in.

seems like there is a lot of inconsistency with various years and owners.

Interesting ...I checked my 2015 F33 (no tech/nav and no enhanced bt) and I get album art over usb, but not with bt.

Sure wish I had album art while streaming over bt.

I think the bluetooth audio portion we are all in agreement is standard, it's the album art streaming we can't seem to get to the bottom of.

My inclination is that not having nav/tech package from the factory is causing the issue, since it was also coded after the fact?

I asked this question a while back. I believe you need nbt or hu entrynav for this to work. It will not work for huentry. I've been trying to find a way for a while. I do have by streaming coded though but no art and I cannot scroll to the next song using the combo/wheel

It is the version of software installed on all car's ECU's.
You can check the I-STEP of your car if you connect it to ISTA/D or ISTA/P.
I've read that oldest version of NBT or CIC cannot support album arts over bluetooth. Mine does.

i've already tried updating and it wouldn't let me. i assume because i'm on the newest version. car is a 2016 i can't see why it would come from the factory without the latest software.

I have it over USB but not when streaming as well. I picked up my 2013 335i 2 weeks ago and also looked at a 2015 328i and the salesperson said the new BT had album art when streaming. I went with the 335i and just have to understand I'll need to run over USB if I want the art.

I coded EBT and I only get album art over USB cable as well, not via BT.

Something has to be turned off/disabled causing this, it makes no sense. We have to figure it out somehow.

To add one thing to the convo:

I have HU_ENTRYNAV, and I upgraded the smaller screen to the 8.8" L7 High CID Screen that the tech/nav package brings, still no album art over BT.

What could possibly be the difference between a car with Nav/Tech and one without when referring to BT Album Art??

i'm going to derail my own thread for a second lol...how did you get the bigger screen? cost? install process?

but you're right it absolutely makes no sense and it's driven me nuts. i don't really care, but i use bt more than my cable because it is too easy to hit my preset button and it go on bt streaming.

Since it's your own thread I guess you are allowed to derail....

I bought a 8.8" screen off of ebay from a junkyard from a 2015 M4 with 5k miles. Screen was in excellent condition. Cost me $399.

Installation is simple: Pop off the front trim with the A/C vents and hazard/unlock button.

Unscrew 2 screws that hold the screen down.

Pull screen up and unplug one large connector cable.

Put in new screen and reverse process.

Lastly, You must code the car to accept the new screen and change the resolution etc. Couple code changes.

This only works on cars with HU_ENTRYNAV, not on older cars.
