340i Idle fix
My 340i went to the dealership and the SA told me they are going to do software update for the idling issue (stalling for me). and transmission reset.
they did a software update to the newest ISTA and re-learn the valvetronic lift position. my car feels different now, the Idle at cold start dropped until 800 rpm, kind of high but no more stumble and vibration. the exhaust flap is now closed all the time when cold start and in comfort mode, as soon as I switch to sport, and hit the pedal a bit the flap opens (this in Park). Also since they reset the tranny adaptation, my car shifts being jerky as hell, waiting until it adapts What do you guys think about the update?

Sound like progress is being made. The software update fixed the start-up stumble on my 2016 340i.

Could I ask what was exactly happening with your car as my bmw 340i sometimes feels as if it’s going to stall. When idling the revs sometimes drop below 500 revs and then pick back up. My car usually isles at 600 revs and then occasionally it drops below to around 300-400 and then it goes back to 600. This has happened to me whilst the car is warm.

I've taken my car in twice and BMW have said they cannot find anything. It's hard to replicate it as it does not happen that often. The only thing I have is a video from another user showing the same issue. How long did it take you to get all this replaced? By the way what is the carbon canister as all I can find is the micro filter

New update changed the steering feel a bit. Now it is softer in comfort but still not bad past 60mph. Shifting points were different as well when I picked it up last month. My only problem is the whining when the engine is at operating temperature. I am taking it to the dealership today. Drive belt tensioner had been replaced a few months ago and that solved the mechanical noise that I was hearing with the whining. This is a big deal for me as it is happening all the time and I am afraid to accelerate because it just sounds wrong. It does not do it when the engine is cold, though.

My stupid phone is not picking up any of that high pitched whine. I dropped the car off at Buena Park BMW to have it checked out for the 4th time. Other dealers I tried before did not give a damn but this time I had a tech verify the noise. We will see what happens. I will keep everybody posted. Meanwhile I am trying to find service bulletins. www.aboutautomobile.com is a great website!

I took my car in for a service yesterday and was told that the charger pressure sensor needed to be changed and that's what is causing the misfire. I asked the after sales advisor who didn't really explain what the part was and why it needed to be changed. Any idea what this part is?

The noise quits when I turn off the A/C, so I'm 99% sure it's the the clutch or pulley or whatever for the A/C. Going to take it to the dealer next week. |

I might need to have that insulator checked out on my F30 though. I have a vibration at idle that makes the dash rattle. |
