Hey ya all

SO i was trying to install my charge pipe today and gave up after 5 hours of work...

it fits fine on the intercooler side but the throttle body part does not lock into plaace... it just gets stuck quarter way onto throttle body...

im guessing its the o-ring ?? It looked really puffy but i didnt take it as much at first im thinking thats my issue...

VRSF pipe...

anyone have any ideas here??

Try some grease and make sure you push straight on... That's what they recommend for that pipe...

or a little liquid soap smeared around the gasket. Wont harm the gasket and eventually evaporates.

I've read the best to use is a silicone grease that's safe for gaskets... That's what I always used for gaskets...

I have the same cp and installed when fully cold. Put some residual oil from your old cp on it and it should slip on

I've tried the oil method and grease it just doesn't budge

I'll have to take a look at my o ring and fitting tomorrow evening

My arms and hands are destroyed with bruises and cuts so it's break time

Make sure the intercooler end is disconnected and try to install as straight/perpendicular as possible. With a little oil and some force it should pop right in, I had to use a long screwdriver to push it in as it's a really tight fit

I have an ER pipe..but maybe this helps: I connected at the top first and then the second part. At the intercooler it was hard as it seemed like the pipes just didn't line up right even with the intercooler loose.

I just grabbed the thing and manhandled it--it's like a physical feat of seeing who will win, the pipe or the shoulder. With the intercooler loose you get more play than at the throttle body.

I also had trouble installing the VRSF charge pipe onto the throttle body. I tried oil but it didn't help. I read silicon grease would help so I went to home depot and got silicon grease in the faucet section spread some on the o-ring and all over the throttle body connection and it worked. I had the same issue with the VRSF CP, what I ended up doing was attaching the intercooler pipe on first with the silicon coupler attached, fed the throttle body side into the coupler and undid both clamps to where I could freely move and rotate the throttle body part and that gave me enough room to push the TB side straight on.

Another important thing which allowed me to do the above was to make sure the coupler on the intercooler pipe was far enough down, if it isn't the throttle body side slides into the coupler at an angle and the throttle body side goes on crooked and wont allow you to make it flush. Good luck!

Okay I was able to get the charge pipe on but it keeps popping off even with the c clamp on

Ive taken it out and I'm a dozen times fits fine but pops off during driving

I'm assuming it's defective at this point and going to order another one

jeez, vrsf should replace it! if you're not going to have them replace it and spend more money again, i'd definitely suggest a different brand.

I just recently installed mine about 3 days ago and it was really straight forward.

Most difficult time for me was tightening down the clamps for the connecting hose. I just didnt think far enough ahead to put them at the right spots. Also those little black clamps on the intercooler were a bitch.

The throttle body side went in easy for me after twisting and pushing... These guys have manufacturing down and the chances of a bad part are very small. Also is it the right O-ring? Mine were different each side. However, I dont think an o-ring would prevent 25% of the pipe from fitting.

The clamp is secured each time but the charge pipe literally slips off

This is really frustrating lol I shouldn't have bought the charge pipe pre owned

I'm about to install a VRSF CP on my 2013 335i after my stock unit finally blew. I removed the old CP without removing the FMIC by cutting the old plastic pipe in half (very carefully with a small sawblade). Waiting now for the new pipe to arrive. Hoping that it will go on and stay on without issues.

Thats an interesting way of removing it lmao! How are you going to put the new one back then?

Since the new VRSF CP is in two pieces, it's relatively easy. I did the lower piece (intercooler end) first, then put the silicone connector on along with the loosened clamps on the upper piece and connected to the lower piece. I then connected the throttle body end, and adjusted the connector and tightened the clamps. So far so good, although the bung for the plastic vacuum hose must have been damaged at the factory because it had a flat spot at the 3:00 position and I had to file down the plastic connector to make it insert properly. I'll secure that with a tie wrap around the connector and the pipe itself, although the o-ring should hold it, but it won't hurt to add a little extra.

Pretty nuts, I had a relatively easy time getting the new charge pipe in and connected. It was getting the factory charge pipe out. That fucker fought me tooth and nail. I ended up breaking the pipe in the process. lol I'm wondering how much of a PITA it's going to be to get the new charge pipe off next time I need to do something.

I would buy a new clamp along with a new o ring if it keeps popping off (if it was installed all the way to throttle body fitting). Also make sure the C clip is not installed reversed.
