Agreed.
I hadnt realised until 2 nights ago that driving at 80 in sports leaves the car in 7th. Flap it upto 8th and it auto drops to 7th as soon as you apply any slight throttle, just seems to want to leave it in the 2k rev mark around 80mph cruising, on a private airfield of course.

I did it my old M3 but I know what will happen in the M5....the TC light will flash like crazy and I'll go no where.

Traction is a serious issue in the M5, I wouldn't take on a 335d xdrive from the lights that's for sure.

It makes sense that the next M5 will have an xdrive option. I'm sure with the kind of power it'll have that it will still be possible to get the arse end out

Bit sad but having had the car for only 19 months I only noticed a month ago that putting on the cruise control disabled the Sport + mode, thus allowing kick down.

Thanks to this post I know I can use the paddle in Sport+ mode and its fantastic!!! Went from 8th gear to 3rd gear tonight, great fun at the end of the 50mph zone.......

I think everyone should be trying this at the weekend

Why have an 8AT and not try out the kickdown AND 'block' gear change.
